Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I have seen so many web sites die from over regulation. The focus can become soo narrow that 'hits' become non existant. Be careful out there in moderationland...................

I would tend to think, the reason why joe is able to maintain such a diverse group is because of the rules. I am on a lot of forums, and while they can maintain one or two specific groups, joes site tends to maintain the most diversity I know of (a site with tonnes of dhillers, roadies, xc guys, ssers etc...its almost unheard of considering how different those groups are). That says something.

Also, as a reverse. I know of more sites that have problems keeping MATURE members due to a lack of rules than the direction you are looking.

Its a fine balance that we walk. This is one area that has no give. Its a rule we enforce across the board equally. Buy and Sell go in buy and sell room. Simple. We only have a few rules that are black and white...this is one of them. Learn to go into another forum for 2 seconds or simply search. The rest of the planet seems to do it with ease.

i come to the forums to read and participate in discussions, not to see ebay auctions. if i want to see ebay auctions, guess what, I GO TO EBAY.

i am also of the philosophy of "don't like, don't click," but not all of the threads for ebay auctions say ebay in the thread title, and then i click on a thread expecting to see a question, or a discussion, and i get a stupid ebay auction for a broken spinergy wheel. great find guys. thanks for the heads up on that. i'll be sure to break out my paypal account for that one, pronto.

Well yes, there are the stealth threads.. and that does kind of suck.

I'm just infavor of not inviting moderation. But of course, welcome to last week William, because it's already done.
