Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Blasphemous I know, but you could check out exercise bikes for tall seatposts.

someone mentioned the danger if the hose clamp gave way. if the post needed a little extra support, and I was going to use hose clamps to do achieve this, I'd be inclined to support it from the headset. Either way, if they fail, you fall off the back. if you support off the headset your not gonna risk a peice of metal through the leg.
