Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Winter's over!

I know some of you live where there isn't any snow or ice, but we in the Midwest didn't get much this winter, and the 10-day forecast doesn't call for any. So after today's ride, I decided to hell with these studded tires!

God, I love the way Paselas look.

That bike rocks. I don't know what my next project will be, but a SS or 1x8 mountain bike with drops is in mind

I got 1x1 drop-barred MB on the brain myself. I'm being haunted by Karate Monkeys unless Vassago comes out of its funk and puts more Fisticuff frames up.

I bumped up the gearing and went on some rides around the neighborhood. Zippy and comfortable, I couldn't be happier.

Are those 650cc wheels? They look tiny.

I'm happy for you, but for some reason it didn't become winter until March here. I love snow. But c'mon, nature.

I guess Hawaii is in winter season (aka rain a metric ****ton with thunder, lightning and flood warnings) right now?

I don't know, I don't understand this foreign place.

The forecast is saying 56° and sunny for today.

We literally had no snow here this year aside from a couple of dustings that melted almost as quickly as they fell.So strange. Tomorrow is looking like 65° but with high winds - which means I may not get to spend as much time on the bike as I'd like - but I'll take it.

They're regular MTB/559mm rims, but they do look funny when you don't have 2" tires on them. Here's a close-up:

I gotta agree that I wish we'd had more snow. I love driving my Subaru in it, and I almost never got a chance to put those studded tires to the test.

My winter fixie took a beating this year, rusty like a mofo. I intend to strip it down and apply a polyurea spray on coating (normally used for truck bedliners ) not for the weight weenies.
