Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: everywhere

Everyone knows that proper riser position is on the back edge of the front tire.

Fair enough. I was defending you anyways, in a backhand way. Even a too-short cable for a front brake doesn't mean the brake is applied when you turn the bars, because the whole assembly moves on the same plane. Thus my "visualize" comment to that dude.

I think risers are fine when done right, but they just look out of place on skinny tired road/track bikes

yeah I don't use those bars anymore. The only way I can get the brake lever to mount safely while being able to actually use it was to put it in that position.

I like the risers on my Motobecane, they make for a pretty comfortable ride.

Nice Moto! I set my Ex's old Motobecane mixte Jubilee up with risers and thumbshifters BITD. Wonder if she's still got that ride...
