Crankset HELP!

hey guys...

i have got a new frame that is apparently a very limited addition, it is a relaunched GT pulse track frame, im in the process of building it up... and the biggest problem im having and have heard of is finding cranks that will fit to this frame (especially the 'large' size frame, which i have) the first crank i thought of is truvativ omnium crankset...the problem is that the crank SPIDER hits the chain stay and i cant seem to find any crankset that will fit this frame....it is a BB86.
i heard that FSA has brought out a bb386, but is that only specific to FSA cranks? or does anyone out there know of a crank that will fit my frame?!

any help is much appreciated!!

Every pic here shows the new Pulse built up with Omniums.

yeap that is true...but if you read on, the people with the cranks on either have

a) got a 'medium' frame
b) used a hammer and dented the stay so the omnium cranks would fit

i have a 'Large' frame and i dont want to resort to using a hammer on my frame....

Off topic but how would one get their hands on a GT pulse relaunch in the first place anyway? Anyhow I would think many people would agree the OG is the way to go.

OUT of all countries...i think New Zealand was the country GT decided to relaunch it....meaning most of the frames made were sent here, i heard of it straight away so i got myself 1 as it is a limited edition thing

That frame looks cool - I like tri triangle frames.

Have you contacted GT to see what cranks/bb they recommend?

How much is it hitting the chain stay If its a minimal amount use the spacers that come with the GXP BB, At the LBS a fuji track pro had this problem, He machined his own GXP Drive side cup, With extended threads, and ran it with 4 spacers on the right, and i think 3 on the left (right being drive side- left being non) But the problem was the cups didnt last long, because the alloy he used was weak and cheap. But, he did clear his chainstay, I could ask him if he can machine them again. I saw his MTB at the store, That means. He'll be back O_O

quite a bit of the spider is hitting the stay i need a crank with a longer spindle....which also must have a bb that fits a pressfit bb86
ive found the FSA bb386 which is a bb86 but takes bb30 cranks....but the problem with bb30 cranks is that the spindle is REALLY short....FSA has made a bb386 crank which the spindle is longer....but at $900nzd a crank....i dont think i cant do it :'(

That doesn't make any sense as the spider is on the outside of the chainring.

This is why these frames are so rare. The owners either jacked them with the mods or got frustrated with the install and took a hammer to them. Either way, same result - one less frame.

Poor planning, engineering and execution on GT's part. Either do what everyone else has done, or get a road crank.
