actually, instead of using the calc, i would say so to go shop and talk to someone who does this all day.
and sit on several types of bikes. to understand why different bikes bikes are ridden in different sizes.
I size down my tri bike and my track bike. compared to my road bikes. could be branding to that affects that

To the other guys who mentioned stand over height, the frame with 53cm top tube is has a standover height of 75.5cm. My current bike is an older frame and the standover is 78cm and I havent injured myself yet. Litte bit of extra clearance is always good eh, ha ha

Bikes: Gios Compact Pro 10 Chorus, Gios single speed, Pedal Force RS2 10 chorus, CAAD5 10 Centaur, Diamondback dirt bike, Fuji Fixed Gear.
My experience is that if a bike size is in the ball park, top tube is the important measurement. I need a fairly short top tube - short arms.
