I don't understand FGFS. Why not just bmx? Probs cause scared to do real tricks.

That same thing can be said about fixed gear bikes in general when looked at with a closed mind. Why ride a road bike with only one gear and the inability to coast?

Agreed. While I personally find FGFS lame to watch, if it's fun for you, great. Unless it's a bmx bike or trials bike, any bike people do tricks on is probably "inferior" for tricks and therefore should never be tricked on.

And if it isn't a pure road bike, it's "inferior" for road riding and shouldn't be used for riding on the road. I guess we all should get rid of our fixed gear road bikes too. Fixed gear bikes should only ever be ridden on the track for competition.

I like to ride my cyclocross bike on technical single track, but I guess I'm being dumb for having fun riding a bike instead of sticking to the bike that's best suited for its purposes, like my actual mtbs.

You can ask why all you want. Why do they do the same tricks on a 26" mountain bike and not use a little bmx? Why do you include SS in the FG forum? They only thing in common is one speed. But the SS has a freewheel and the FG doesn't. Why say use a bmx when it is even close to a FGFS, bmx use's a freewheel and the FGFS doesn't. One thing for sure it is a lot harder to do those tricks on a 26" mountain bike and FGFS then a bmx.

Which is precisely why I think it's not worth the time or money to do it.

I could go play golf with a baseball bat, which makes it harder. But no one will give me praise for doing so. They will just call me crazy.

Maybe for you it's not worth "your time or money". But you cannot speak for everyone else. This is not carleton's world. I have more respect for the guys that try to do the tricks on the bigger bikes and don't chicken out because it's to hard to do. Where would this world be if everybody chicken out!

FGFS should have it's own separate forum. Subforums tend to limit the amount of people who see them and cause overcrowding of the main forum (seen it on plenty of other forums).
FGSS riders can't really give recommendations on gear or relate to the same experiences. Let them feel comfortable around similar people.

I absolutely like my 26" wheel dj bike, I look extremely out of place on a 20 and 24.
