Flat top bullhorns, comfortable?

Anyone running flat top bullhorns and are they comfortable? I know the idea is being able to mount base bars but was wondering if they function sort of like Ergon grips by distributing pressure over larger area if you are grabbing the horns with your palms resting on the flats right in the corner. Can you actually ride the flat area near the stem or is it awkward?

Cinelli Mash's look a bit extreme and expensive but know there are some others out there.

I love my Deda crono nero bullhorns. I find the flat tops to be very comfortable. I regularly ride 30+ miles using them and never suffer any discomfort.

I HATED the MASH bars. Flat top was too big. Rode with them for a month and wanted to love them because they look so sweet, but they just weren't comfortable for my hands(which aren't particularly large). The flat top on Ergonova Pro bars, however, are very comfortable to me.

For what it's worth, I love drops with flat tops and when I considered getting horns, I looked at getting a set with flat tops like the Deda cronos mentioned. I think there are quite a few people who ride horns with flat tops and actually ride on the flats.

The Cinelli MASH bars do look pretty sweet but I could see those huge flats not really being too functional.

Which of the Dedas are you riding:

I love them. I use the dimension bar. For ~$30 it is a great bargain. Not much room for mounting brakes + lever + lights + trip computer if you need those things. My bar is bare, so no worries for me. Very comfortable.

Edit:
I got these from my LBS, but here is an online link:

I'm running T2 Profile Design bullhorns, maybe Im just used to them but I'd never go back to round bars. Yes, these are much more comfortable for that exact reason you mention. Last week went on a 53 miler ride w/o any hand/palm issues.

Riding with hands near stem makes your back muscles to pick up the slack (makes u stronger in the long run) since you cannot put as much weight pressure as when in "hoods" position, in this sense is no different than any other bar. I think mine was about $35
If I had more faith in chinese carbon, I'd go for these:

The T2's look nice. A little more flat area than the Deda's from the photos at least.

Those Hylix look a lot like the Cinelli Mash bars.

Think I'd prefer flat to bars with drop.

i have the mash bars and love them. my line of work has left my hands in pretty rough shape and I find it less painful after a long ride.

im using the crononero tri and love them. Flats are awesome and comfortable i commute with them + do 30-35 mile rides with them all the time. I even got some deda drops the other day and i went on a short ride came back home and took them off. I got my horns on sale over at PBK for like 45 shipped a few months back. i do wanna try the low riders soon tho.

Can you fit a cross lever near the stem on these bars (T2, Deda or Cinelli)?

Most of them are made to be compatible with clip-on aerobars, so yes, most likely. Definitely on the MASH bars.

Yeah, as long as it's a 31.8 clamp.
