Injury??

I dont really know if this is the right forum to post this but as I ride a fixed gear bike..so why not

Because of the storm (Sandy) I did not get to ride my bike a lot for a week or so...got back on it and after a couple days of heavy riding, I have some serious pain in my right Achilles tendon. I have more pain when I try to slow down/skid. The only way I can really describe it, is that it feels like an over stretched elastic waist band when i press my hand on it. Stretching and icing as helped a little but not really.

I was curious if anyone knew what kind of injury it could be or if they have ever had similar symptoms. If yes, what did you do to help or how long did it take?

Perhaps your seat is too high.

I dont know if a week off is really so bad but maybe enough to make poor fit really stand out.

Stop doing the thing that makes it hurt. Put some brakes on your bike if you have to.

Unless you are under 30 years old, in which case HTFU and you will feel better soon.

When you skid and feel the pain in the right achilles is your foot forward or back? IOW, are you pushing or pulling (the pedal) to cause the pain?
