If flat tires make a bike jackass, then all of my bikes are jackass on one occasion or another.
Flat pedals are practical on an around town bike. I have flats on both of mine because it's easier than dealing with clips and I can wear any shoes, even flip flops if I desire.
The last bike looks like someone built it themselves.

Asymmetric brake stays can be made narrower than conventional ones so they are theoretically more aerodynamic. I doubt there any real world difference even at profesional TT speeds.

I don't get why any of these are jackass.

It is actually a production frame made by Mongoose.

I have cheap $15 wellgo platforms on my vintage cannondale...they might be jackass, but when you're just riding to the bar for some drinks, they beat clips every time.

I am not saying that it is jackass, just that the person posting them probably did so because they thought that they were. Pedals are like saddles and are a personal choice. I run m520's on everything I have just for continuity.

I was somewhat anti platform pedals in the beginning, but since mountain biking, I started falling in love with them. The pins help your foot stay in contact with the pedal on the upstroke and it's just so nice to jump on your bike and not have to worry about what shoes you have on.
I totally get it tho, they look out of place on a lot of bikes, and they look odd on my old cannondale too, but when I ride the beater bikes, their intention isn't really to go fast or anything, just have fun.

They're totally underrated, man. They get written off by a lot of people who never even used their products because of their name. It tends to make people associate the company with the whole trendy fixie market. The quality of their products are quite good, though.
