Lock Suggestions?

Is the Kryptonite Evolution Mini-5 a good lock to get or will it be too small? Is one of the New York locks worth getting? I feel as if, if a theif was able to go through a standard lock he'll also most likely be able to go through the NY lock; or am I wrong?

I have the mini-5 lock, locking up isnt too much of a problem for me if the bike racks where you're locking up at aren't too crowded. If they are, you might have to get a little creative.

its nice having a smaller lock in terms of transporting it from place to place.

so in that case, there really is no point in dishing out the extra money?

Will the evolution mini-7 fit in a rear pocket? I plan to ride without a bag from time to time.

Lock your bike next to something more expensive/desirable/flashy.

See, there's a use for carbon fibre roadies afterall.

Im not sure about the size, but i just tuck mine into my belt loop, it can fit in my back pocket but i wouldnt trust it to stay there

its definitely worth getting, a cheap lock means theres more opportunities for people to steal your stuff since its easier to break

a better lock decreases that chance since it then takes something like an angle grinder as opposed to a pair of wire cutters

No lock is unbreakable is all im saying

Just hope I don't park next to you, your ride is good as gone. Hell, if my bike gets stolen I could find it within a block....even a thief wouldn't have it.

No way to tell, it depends on your bike, how you lock it up and where you lock it to.

I have an onguard mini U. Occasionally the mini part is a hassle, but worth it, you're carrying that heavy ***** constantly.

Is the NY fahgettaboudit lock, rear/back pocketable or it simply to heavy? If it is too heavy, I'm just going to go with the Evo Mini

I wouldn't want to carry a NYF in my back pocket, personally. A regular Mini is heavy enough. A belt holster like this makes it easier to haul heavy u-locks if you don't mind spending an extra $10.

edit- Also the back pocket carry is going to wear on your pockets and saddles, if you care about that.

Even as a mini, the NY fahgettaboudit is not pocketable. In addition to being heavier, it's both longer and wider. It's namesake follows along with your ability to tote it around in your jean pocket.

Pictures are worth a thousand words:

The major downsides are that you need to carry two locks and two keys.

Just get an accessory cable.

Or get a larger U lock so you can this:

two keys dont really bother me. But thats true. I use a cable right now for secondary. It feels a lil heavy and not too flexible, making it a bit of a hassle. Possibly because its a masterlock. Perhaps kryptonites and abus cables are better

I heard this might be a little bit bad for the fork over time?

A little bit... the miniscule paint on the fork ends that only the pavement looks at is going to be gone but you're not intentionally grinding your fork ends on the concrete. Don't worry about it.

this is probably my favorite lock right now. a little heavy, but if yr locking up downtown late at night or just running groceries/laundry its fine. for a race or whatver you proably dont really need a lock, just throw yr bike in someones car if it comes down to it. or bring a lighter duty lock. but no ones gonna want to **** with this one.

sadly i dont currently have a lock, but i keep my bike inside at work and when i go somewhere which isnt often its either right at the door where my eye is on it aka convenient store or its walked inside where i can keep an eye on it.

i recently had a bike stolen while locked up with cameras and security so im hesistant to lock it up. i do need to buy one but will i use it? id rather just keep it inside wherever i am at. i know i have to get one though.

I've just come across this

https://www.modernbike.com/search.asp...52647&SCPK=745

It seems that these are pretty good locks due to their length, strength, and its able to fold.

Does anyone own these?
