favorite component?

does anyone else have one bit of bikeness that they love beyond all others? one part that you keep buying more and more of? for me it's definetly the handlebars. at this point i have drops, risers, moustache bars, a few different bullhorns, and some total abominations that i won't even attempt to describe, all of which i use from time to time on the same bike.

does anyone else have this affliction? perhaps a setpost addict? pedal maniac? i could definitely see someone getting nuts over finding interesting chainrings. how about it?

Bikes: Too Many

For me sadly it's just collecting bikes in general. Currently I have 9 complete bikes in the stable with about 5 frames sitting around naked. Man..I need to clean house.

i like hubs, but i can't afford to buy anything right now. i've got a set of suntour superbe pros on my current ride, and a set of dura-ace 10 pitch hubs that need to be built.

Ooh yeah, I like hubs too. I don't want to go over my list of hubsets, it's a bit embarrasing...

C Record high flange track hubs. Sexiest hub(track or otherwise) ever made, in my opinion at least.

Anything leather or canvas turns me on, regardless. Cycling component-wise, Brooks saddles and Carradice bags fall into those categories.

Bikes: steyr, lejeune, schwinn, sears, crescent, blah blah blah.

I try not to use it on the fixed but my favorite part of most of my bikes is the Mafac Racers. I have bought at least one bike specifically to get the Racers off it.

Yeah. My problem is that about every two weeks, I change my mind about what set-up I like best, so I'm constantly buying new bars and stems and swapping back and forth, looking for the configuration that's just right.

I have a serious thing for cranks. I like 'em silver and shiny with a 5-bolt pattern. I like sparkling stack bolts (titanium a plus) and big chainrings. Hmm... I guess I have a rather specific fetish

I'm currently obsessed with aero levers.

Your typical Shimano SLR levers (I've got the 105SC variant) are fine and dandy, but the ultimate sex in aero levers has to be the current Campy Records. That great body shape, sensuous lever curve, carbon fiber goodness... oh baby.

Another vote for the High flange Campy Record hub. I love the way mine casts a shadow as I roll down the road on a sunny day.

I can never bring myself to ride my high-flange campy. That wheelset mainly exists to look pretty in my garage and hold tubular tires...

I love bikes in general, own 6 (1 touring, 1 road, 1 mtb, 1 fixed, 1 BMX) and I want more. But I seem to have a thing for tires and saddles, maybe because that is all I can afford. I am currently debating on getting a Selle Italia Turbo for my fixed and some Odyssey Frequency G tires for the bmx. The saddle and tires are the first things to go when I get a new bike, its like my way of personalizing the bike.

Oops I forgot to include my beach cruiser if that counts, but its seen less and less use since getting a fixed gear for the summer. The beach cruiser used to be the beer run and over friends house bike which is now one of the fixie's many jobs.

Bikes: Classic lugged-steel road, touring, gravel

Brooks saddles (I have five of them).

When I was younger (and dumber!) I had a Sella Italia Turbo and I gave it away because it was uncomfortable. I also had a Cinelli Unicanitor saddle and gave that away too because I was new to cycling and I thought it looked cheap. Now I can kick myself!

I am a complete tool hore. My wife just spent $30 to ship a ten dollar tool from Europe for Valentines. For bike parts it would be a toss between hubs. Their shapes can be beautiful(I even have a pair of Miallards heliocentrics that I turned into candle holders for an engagement present) And Saddles, old leather saddles. Like Fixer I like the leather goods. Saddles, and bags even non bike bags and luggage are very cool.
