o.O have you considered buying 2 walmart thrusters? probably about as dissapointing and you'll have a back up bike.

Why don't you save a little bit more money and get a Windsor the hour $280 or a Motobecane Track for $280 also? Do you need a bike right this second or can you save up for a few more weeks?

Yup just get a Walmart Thruster or a Target Magna. Either that or save up another 80 for a Motobecane Track or Windsor Hour from Bikesdirect. No point in getting an overpriced POS.

200 is pretty low, I dont own a Windsor the hour, but i've parked my bike next to plenty of them on campus and i'll have to say they look nice, cant say much about the ride but people seem to like it and for 280 thats pretty good, I paid almost 400 for my kilo tt

I've had my windsor hour for close to 9months, and I can say that it's a great bike. I've ridden my buddy's kilo, and aside from the differences in handling (kilo is "twitchier" whereas the hour feels planted), they're both the same in build quality. Oh, and the hour doesn't have toe overlap. Although it doesn't really matter lol

I've had mine for close to 2 years now and can confirm the windsor hour(about $280 @ Bikesdirect) is a great choice if you're on a budget. Its about as low as you're going to pay and still have a "real" bike that you can trust going 30mph down a hill on.
The only other "cheaper" option is to wait for a great deal on CL to come by on a fixed gear bike - or do a conversion (this will cost you ~$150 to get a quality fixed gear wheel set + track cog though I suspect you could go even cheaper).
Also add in the cost of new pedals(with proper foot retention) to the cost of the windsor our - its basically a must upgrade. Though I would also recommend getting a quality helmet and lock.

Also, I'm not sure about the Windsor, but the kilo has horrible toe overlap, and when i bought the bike i was always used to not having to worry about that, I've had my share of clipping my wheel with my toe and nearly falling off.

I just found one of these CO-OP's near me, but need to make some time to visit. Friend of mine went to one and said he loved it. He bought a used single speed off craigslist and they helped him "tune it up". He dontated a some cash and his time to help others. Sounded really cool. I am sure others with more experience could weigh on their thoughts.

That first bike is horrible, It's hi-ten steel, which is generally ****ty, and it looks like it has a 2 piece crankset, which if it's made the same way as one of those Target bike's cranksets then it'll start developing play and fall apart on you in no time. Plus, they feel really ****ty too. I'd really recommend searching around on CL, good stuff usually pops up there and you can nab an okay bike for $150, or, as in my area, a nice lugged conversion for $200.

Check CL you can find decent used ss/fg and conversions at a good price, or save up for something a little better both of those bikes are pretty much awful.
