Today, I learned my mom likes watching cycling on tv. She's visiting from Michigan for a couple of weeks (which is actually pretty nice as I've only seen her about 3 times in the last 2.5 years) and tonight while cooking dinner I threw on the US Pro Challenge...she was glued to the tv. She doesn't understand it at all, but she gets riding a bike and she's just blown away by how fast they go and how close they are. I was amused.

I love this story.

Today I learned that a good friend and wonderful person was harassed and injured by ******** in a car last night. She was riding her bike and an SUV pulled up alongside her, touching her, and a passenger reached out the window and grabbed her messenger bag, pulling her alongside the speeding car. They were yelling angrily and laughing. Her bike slams into a parked car and she goes down and they let go of her bag and speed off.

She went to the ER - no broken bones but very bruised up. Her front wheel and fork are ****ed.

She is the founder of Bike a Bee and does urban beekeeping by bicycle (in addition to being a talented illustrator), so this ****s with her livelihood and life's passion too. **** EVERYONE.

Small victory: I successfully tackled servicing a threaded headset for the first time last night. Repacked hubs and BBs before but this is my first frame with a threaded headset.

My friend is fielding calls now from every chicago news outlet (helps that a close friend is a HuffPo Chicago reporter). Hopefully the word gets out and these jerks get caught.

Glad you're ok.
kaz, hope your friend is ok and they catch those losers.

Today I went on a good walk. As for my situation, can't share it, but will say relief.
