I cannot imagine that on that gear. good for you.

:) thanks. It took a few miles to get used to that gearing. I'm usually on a much spinnier 49x18.

Today I picked up something new. Ever since I sold my 1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 3 I have regretted it(see below). If you ever find one of the Series Paramounts and the price is good pick it up, I promise you wont be disappointed. The Details are stunning and the ride quality is the best. Anyway, I pick up the more rare and strange 26" wheeled 1992 Series 7 version in the Freak paint job.

Every day I am setting a new personal best on a dead flat 20 mile loop near my house. Yesterday I did 15.9 mph average speed, 1hr 14 min, 23 mph top speed...in the rain. The top speed was when I tacked on to a group ride for a few hundred years before I popped. Not too bad for a 240lb guy that should be around 180lb. Lets see what I do tonight.

Lots of work travel and dinners on the road made me gain 40lb in the last year and a half. really looking forward to getting lean and fast again!

Pushed out 45 miles then went and test rode a synapse and a caad10.

Today one of the bikes I built in the shop was sold! 3 hours after I built it! Which is kinda exciting. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up.

Really? They are actually doing something interesting instead of just acting cool.

Today I finished up my wheels except for the tiniest of truing that I still have to do. I laced the rear up sort of odd w/ paired radial nds and 2x drive side. Does anyone see anything wrong with that? Am I going to die.

Today I enjoyed the sun and cleaned the stable and made a pic of all my bikes together :)

Some guy dropped this off in our shop today to get some dents fixed/repainted. Thing was sick, guess it was made in the actual Morgan factory and everything, all hand rolled steel. He said its worth like thirty grand. Posting it here cause it's a coaster brake.

Rode my recently finished cruiser for 20 miles and have ensured myself that the saddle I put on it is not for me. Will be putting some nice Brooks leather on it in the morning to get back to sitting in comfort.

On a side note got some of the nicest "heckling" from a driver/passenger I will likely ever receive. Was cruising down the scenic route and the female passenger decided to flash me as they passed by(pretty nice looking set too), will certainly take that over having change thrown at me and being told to get off the road.

it is kind of neat, it makes me think of peterpan/waterworld but to me its just like a bunch of weirdos said "how can we bring hipster to the ocean?" and nailed a bunch of trash from williamsburg together and threw it in the sea

Doing something "interesting" is the new acting cool.

People need to learn to live and let live a bit more. I get when a specific "hipster" (ugh whatever i'm a hipster idgaf hate away) does something specific to you (kinda, a lot of the hipster hate is hypothetical strawman ****), but what does it hurt you if some people are doing their thing and not bothering you in the least? Would you rather those people be sitting on their couches reading People magazine and watching Americas Got Talent? Driving gas guzzling SUVs and voting for anti-gay-marriage bills? I mean, really, there are way worse things in the world than some young people using their boundless energy and enthusiasm to do something they think is cool. Steampunk kind of annoys me but I remind myself it doesn't ****ing matter, they aren't hurting anything. They're young, eventually most of them will decide they need real jobs or whatever and settle down and be normal and boring like the rest of us with maybe one interesting hobby like welding or bikes or roller derby or whatever. And in the meantime maybe they're learning how to make actual physical things with their hands instead of wasting their lives away in front of the internet like me.

/ranty Friday morning kaz, who is going to a baseball game tonight and really bummed to find out it's "country music night." i'd much rather it be steampunk hipster night.

You mean kinda like when I'm walking down the street in my town and white trash bro dudes throw half-empty cans of Bud Light at me from cars while yelling things like "Get a job, hippie!" when in reality, A: I'm not a hippie by any sense of the word and B: I make more money working for myself than they ever will slaving for somebody else? Or how about when dopey striped shirt, experimental eyewear-wearing art school kids come into my shop and talk down to me like they know more about what I sell than I do?

It goes in all directions and everyone has their own tiny little soapbox.

misskaz 08-09-13 09:26 AM

Well can we all at least agree that these people are the worst?

Yes, absolutely. I go there whenever I want to indulge in my 'riding a bike while packing a sidearm' revenge fantasies.
