you could always try the 3' threshold power test (that I would never try):

Just go all-out for 3 min. But no pacing - all out every pedal stroke. Don't try to hold the highest average power; EVERY pedal stroke is a sprint level effort, and by the end, you should barely be producing about 1/5 or so the power of your first few strokes.

The idea is that you can burn through all of your anaerobic work capacity in about 3' so that all your left with by the end is your "critical power", or max aerobic power, aka threshold.

Takes some srs mental toughness. If you are still producing decent wattage after 3' you haven't gone hard enuf.

hit that NOS from the get go until it's all out and you're only left with regular gas.

don't conserve it, ignore the pain, just keep dumping it out till all the NOS is gone.

should take about three min.

Dannihilator 12-07-13 04:42 PM

Today I put in 50 miles.

UGH. We've been doing 60s efforts in the biggest gear you have. For me, it's 115gi :(

It makes me hate life.

TMonk 12-07-13 05:26 PM

cool!

now try and do your best 1', but keep going for another 2 after.

i feel you tho 60' is hard enough... for me it's pretty damn miserable at like 45 seconds.

johnnytheboy 12-07-13 05:56 PM

take that training bull**** elsewhere.
it's winter.
time for fat tires, slow speed and even more beer/meat consumption.

yummygooey 12-07-13 06:11 PM

unfortunately the trainer is the closest i can get to riding for the next month+.

also no beer so that sux. have many good homebrew and other bottles piling up somadbro.

hairnet 12-07-13 06:47 PM

It kind of rained today. I guess winter is here.

no argument here, if by winter you mean slightly cooler off-season

Today, I talked the guys into getting breakfast instead of doing 40 miles. I'm a bad influence but it was cold and breakfast was warm.

Today I got rained on mid ride. Thank god for thermals. :D

Quite the unusual occurrence in this part of the country, had to take a moment to figure out what was this liquid coming from the skies. They call it "rain".

Xgecko 12-07-13 10:01 PM

Today I put my fenders on for the winter.

There were actual downpours last year. I hope it happens again so I can get a second chance to justify the fenders I have been riding with.

98% of the time in California they're just for looks and keeping road crud off you.

TMonk 12-08-13 10:14 AM

Huffandstuff 12-08-13 03:38 PM

You Socal people bum me out with your fancy weather.

Last night I rode to a christmas work party was about 15~ miles in 19 degrees with snow still on the ground. Party was fun but my bonus was about 4x smaller than what I was expecting. Looks like no MW bag for me.

Ugh. Same here. I'm a little pissed as we used to get the same amount as our regular paycheck. Plus co-worker ******bags are clocking in early and working extra hours to make up for not being scheduled for 40 hours, and "forgetting" to leave at their scheduled time, on top of just being general morons. And one dude is bringing his dogs to work and letting them piss all over the shop. Bretty gud...

/work rant

Mumonkan 12-08-13 06:08 PM

whats a bonus?

+1... i've received some nice gifts from bosses for the holidays, like a nice bottle of scotch or bourbon, but never an official end of year "bonus" like some people.
