Today I rode by the sexy lights tonight, so had to take a pic. Too lazy to take headlight off, though. 21°, gotta love it.

today i: ex sex

dunno if that was a good idea or not, since it was a totally sober decision

hockeyteeth 12-08-13 10:31 PM

^^^of course it's good. Don't worry about it. You sound like you are insecure or mentally unstable with all this ex talk, mate. Love 'em and leave 'em until you find the right one.

Appreciation from your employer when you have worked there for seven effing years and are not a screw-up.

Today I put in another 48 miles.

PluperfectArson 12-08-13 11:45 PM

I bought new tires and a chain for my bicycle; friend asked me if I wanted to bike to class all this week.

It's been a while since I've cycled, since my car has pretty much taken up all of my time and money.

My body is not ready.

Nagrom_ 12-09-13 05:14 AM

I could definitely be a porn star.

Jaytron 12-09-13 10:20 AM

Today I thought about doing a recovery ride.

Didn't do it.

cali_axela 12-09-13 01:37 PM

My knees have seriously been hating the fixed gear commuter in the cold for some reason, aching like crazy all last week. Do cold temps affect anyone else's knees/joints badly?

Our cycling team coach has a rule: "Always cover your knees below 65F". The idea is that the cold temps restrict blood flow and can cause discomfort and decreased mobility.

Have you been keeping your joints warm?

Cold makes me feel like crap, but not my joints specifically.

My coach always yells at me to cover up my legs under a certain temp, even if I don't feel cold.

TMonk 12-09-13 05:38 PM

what temp, jus curious?

I know that my knees will ache a little if its 50F or lower but that's lower than what some ppls will tell you

I want to say about 60~65. I've been yelled at for not "wearing my longs" (he's british) on days that I don't feel cold at all.

hairnet 12-09-13 06:37 PM

I usually wear my knee warmers at those temps or take it easy until I warm up.

Mumonkan 12-09-13 06:46 PM

ive only put something more than shorts once so far this year and that was when it was 38 and raining

you cali boys are spoiled

hairnet 12-09-13 06:49 PM

It's not about being uncomfortable. I have bad knees and I would like to not make them worse.

Fo reals, if I had to cover my knees everyone it was under 65, I'd only be in shorts two months out of the year. I bought some thick booties to help block the wind, anything over five miles and my feet are ice cubes. I was also given a shop key today since I'm always on time during bad weather.

This.

It's about protecting your legs/joints from injury. Not about who's more "manly"

Mumonkan 12-09-13 08:35 PM

never said i did it for the manpoints, i just dont get cold so easily

i can totally understand a preexisting injury

I have been wearing my thinner long legged bibs, since it has been in the mid/high 40s, and still feel it. I don't cover my knees in the 60's at all, but never had problems at those temps either, but maybe I should consider it too, thanks for the tip. I notice it a lot more on the fixed biek than my geared bike but it's there on both.

Yeah, it takes a bunch for me to "feel" cold. But I still get yelled at hahaha.

I think it more comes down to preventing injury than just feeling warm or cold.

Truth. It becomes an issue as you begin to rack on he teh mileage/training load (read: stress on tendons)

Once in college, some friend-of-a-teammate dude from Vermont was visiting during the winter. Our ride started at sub 40F and ended at 45F, and he was in short sleeves. He was totally fine and soupes strong
