Today i decided to get good at faster pace-pedaling slowdowns. Whatever floats your boat, right? 5 months ago i was trying to get good at bar humping skids (because i couldn't do them at all), then "mid skid/sit skids," then whips and whatnot (still not good at those) and was told that was kid stuff (it kind of is, but it is a skill, too).

I decided today it'd be boss if i could just shut it down, fastish, with slow pedaling. We'll see how that goes. I do have a brake, but I am enjoying trying to master my repertoire of fixed gear stuff. It keeps riding interesting, why i got a fixed gear instead of a road bike (next step: get road bike) to get back into cycling.

If you are ever riding with your shadow "preceding" you (so you can see it on the ground), check out how much chain tension varies throughout your pedal stroke. I had knee surgery last June and my left leg is still weaker than my right. Back in December (got the bike in November) the chain tension between "right leg power stroke RRRRR" and "left leg power stroke ... whimper" was really really visible, and i have clipless and try to pedal circles and pull up, etc since the day i got the bike. Point is, tension varies a lot, check it out. "Me and my shadowwww"

Good show, man. I say this especially because I see ppl posting good news in here and no responses, it's like shouting into the abyss... "Today i rode 40 miles at 23mph average" [crickets]. Good luck!

Today I had a good ride despite getting honked at by a school bus, I don't respond well to horns, major pet peeve for me. Picked my pace off and went hard enough to stay ahead of the bus until I came to my turn. I hate school buses with a deep passion.

School bus drivers are the worst, it's like they try to get as close to you as possible...then the minute they get in front of you, they put on their lights and come to a stop.

That's why I launched, I've turned myself inside out on climbs to stay ahead.

Today I received some NOS small parts in the mail. Who reuses regular/bill envelopes by sticker bombing them with labels? Apparently the seller does.

Thanks.

I was quite pleased with the result... even though it isn't a high end bicycle or inordinately lightweight it rides and handles really well... this is probably due to the pre-Colnago bladed fork and because the bike was designed as an all rounder for weekday work and weekend racing.

Nice. I like this filter effect better than the natural color in the other pic, somehow seems more fitting for that bike.

Thanks... it is pretty much black and white already so the sepia filter works well.

Today I got the news that the reason my quads are most likely so tight is because i'm 'quad dominant'. I've got super weak glutes and side abductors or whatever they call. I got taught lots of fun floor exercises to do whilst watching tv and got thoroughly emasculated by barely being able to lift 2kgs with my leg in an odd exercise.

So heated still. Today, I went from San Jose to San Francisco to meet with the CL person selling the Suntour Sprint pedals. When I get there, he realizes that couldn't find the pedals and said something about his roommate mistakingly taking it. Then he proceeded to try to sell me some beat up pedals. I didn't care if they were high end Japanese and that he was giving me a discount; they were too beat up for the all new build I'm making. I asked him to just call his roommate. She finally returns his call after I leave. He calls me back and said that she sold them last night without telling him, then left town (what the hell kind of a story is that?). I was heartbroken, man; I really wanted those pedals. Fu*k that guy, and his supposed roommate. I felt like he was feeding me lies anyways. Wasted my day.

Today I am packing and getting ready for my bike-camping trip. Of course, I am the only one in the group who is biking but whatever. Just means I plan to get my buddies to haul my gear in their cars.
