Today I had a good ride on the puch. Need to get used to the handling.

Getting psyched for my favorite race tmrrw, barrio logan GP cat3. The course suites me well - technical and punchy up and down a ~4-5% grade.
I placed 4th two years ago, 3rd last year. Family + gf will be there and I plan on doing better this year. |
In other news, a neighbor of mine, whom I have never interacted with outside of passing smiles and waves, just dropped off a bunch of free bike **** at my apt.
Apparently he's getting deployed for some military intelligence mission, and needs to get rid of some crap. He gave me a complete Alex Rims ALX270 wheelset, with barely used cassette, a free floor pump, and a bunch of tires and tubes. I was like wtf... Totally awesome. I guess it's time to pay it fwd. |
Enjoy the race, stay safe. I would say good luck, but it doesn't sound like you need it, and it's not about luck anyway.
|
Thanks! And luck always does play a part. Being lucky on this course means that some asshat won't crash me out or dive the inside of a corner on me in the last couple laps.
|
It rained yesterday so I didn't go to track so instead I messed around with the gopro again. Here's a pointless video of my house to the river almost entirely on MUPs.
|
^^ Cool video, makes me want a go pro.
Today I worked my second solo mail route and managed to improve my time by about 40 minutes. Helped that it was the first day this week that we didn't get any rain. |
Rode around DTLA, Silver Lake, and Echo Park again. **** this heat wave and I had the best fish tacos EVVVAAAAAAR!!
|
Haven't posted or lurked here in months. Today I got a sweet deal on a Hario coffee grinder.

Today I have fever, caught up on Adventure Time... show has so much depth, ridiculous
|
Today I put in 62 miles.

Back in the Bay Area. Semester's over yay!
Also, my dad just bought a GoPro for like half off because we know someone who works there apparently. |
Today I rode my bike. The rest of the week was so hot that I was getting headaches just from being outside, so every day I'd look at the bike and be like "lol no."

Technically it was Sunday but my buddy signed up for a 100 mile ride to the beach with me, so I took him out on a 40 mile training loop. He barely made it twenty before he was spent, rode back at a limping speed with him and now my knees hurt. He's gonna have to step bid game up, the ride is on the 17 th and I'm not gonna be riding slow.
I also sold the rear wheel off my forty dollar bike for 30 bucks after a fresh repack. |
Today I got to teach my friend how to skid
|
Today I turned wrenches on the truck instead of on bikes... the hood needed a little alignment, a speed sensor had to be replaced, and I restored the fog lamps so I will be less likely to run over my cycling brethren in bad weather.
:D Dropped my car off at the shop this am as it is our primary vehicle and should have it back tomorrow after it gets a new steering rack... our city roads are brutal and really beat things up although the car does have 170,000 miles on it and this was due. Bikes are so much cheaper to maintain... I have a shop full of them right now and more work coming in so tomorrow I'll be wrenching and setting the torch to steel. |
Decided to leave the quellas powder coat alone and get a felt brougham to mess with, still havent picked a crazy "please steal me" colour instead of the black frame with black everything else. Ill leave the black parts and change the frame to some bright super gloss powder, donno hot pink, green something bright thats a laugh.
Debating belt drive for the quella |
Today I'm at the dealership getting an alignment and oil change (cause coupons). Cars man, why?
Tonight I'm going to the track for the first time. Sure I'll be nervous once I actually get on the track. Also decided yesterday that I'm going to be traveling to the Pacific Northwest at the end of summer. Portland, Seattle, maybe Vancouver. It'll be the first time I travel solo on a longer vacation. |
I hear you. My car died about a year and a half ago and I haven't bothered to replace it.
You will really enjoy the track though it can be a bit unnerving at first. Be willing to take instruction. Expertise on the road does not immediately translate to expertise on the track, though it will give you a leg up. Beware, once you see the PNW you may never want to return to New Jersey. Are you bike touring cross country to get there? |
No, I only own fixed gear bikes, nor do I have the time. Going to fly out with my bike then take the train.
After living in the Northeast my whole life and two years in Toronto, I'd be more than willing to give up winter. Unfortunately/fortunately my family keeps me here (for now). |
