Finally got my Garmin 510 in the mail -- seems to have taken forever to get here. I also forgot my headphones so today is gonna be looooong at work

LouCypher 05-12-15 11:45 AM

Got a new backpack and put some stuff in it. . . Also ordered up 10 in 1 wrench thing off Amazon and when it showed up it was not a wrench but a bag full of fishing line weights? #NailedIt

Wait was it this wrench?

If it is you should probably reconsider. It's one of the cheapest and flimsiest tools out there, made of aluminum. It would probably break if you were to tighten your rear wheel with it.
I've seen them included in patch kits at the dollar store.

Or this one?

You're getting a cheap flimsy piece of stamped steel if this is the case.

Hopefully you didn't pay much.

LouCypher 05-12-15 11:53 AM

yea it was the one on top. I figured they forgot to smash the fishing weights down to form the wrench before sending it to me. I think it was like 5 bucks. I cant remember. Not expecting anything nice.

Unkle Rico 05-12-15 11:54 AM

Totally agree. Found a busted ass pair that only works in one ear. I'll take it all day long over my coworkers!

Today I rebuilt a rear hub, cleaned and repacked some pedals, and glued new grips on new bars for my current nerd build.

Tomorrow building the wheels.

clarifixer 05-12-15 12:37 PM

Took a 25+ mile ride on the Nishiki SS. Gorgeous day, but wind 15-20 mph with gusts to 30. Character building.....

RoderWrench 05-12-15 05:00 PM

I road with my new Sidi Dominator's for the second time.

franswa 05-12-15 05:38 PM

Today I didn't let the rain stop me from riding. Also, I ran into SpeshulEd , who happens to be visiting Austin. Random!

hardboiled718 05-12-15 08:14 PM

^nice, I generally hate riding in rainy weather but do it anyway because a crappy ride in the rain is still better than the bus. I got caught in a downpour yesterday and the day before, hoping it doesn't rain today too

Leukybear 05-12-15 09:23 PM

Today I wrapped a pair of dropbars for a friend with quite possibly the cheapest and smelliest bar tape there is. It was bad.

Muffin Man 05-12-15 09:28 PM

Went to go see the start of Stage 3 of the Tour of California, then proceeded to get destroyed by friends on a ride.

Haha, that was kind of random and awesome all rolled into one. I am also the proud owner of a Fast Folks tshirt!

Happy to be back in Phoenix though, after a week off the bike, I'm anxious to get back on tomorrow.

Entering the final stretches of freshman year. I have a test from 8-12 tomorrow morning, then 6 pages of a research paper to write (due at 5 - but I can stretch the deadline a bit). Then I'm done. So yeah. I'm spending ten hours tomorrow typing on a laptop? I just want to splash around in a pool and make my mind go fuzzy and relaxed, but instead I'm stuck at my desk writing

i've been here too long, and said too much

bye :)

happy bikes!!
I need to put some fenders on tomorrow too. Maybe @ night

I'm a bit late to the party, but I was making some and figured I'd share...

Cold brew coffee.

Fill hopper in this all the way full. Grind.

Mix in this pot with water up to the rivets.

Wait about 24 hours at room temperature. Strain through this into another pot.

And you get a week or so supply of iced coffee. Mix with a small amount of half and half and simple syrup.

SpeshulEd 05-13-15 09:35 PM

So basically, cold brew coffee is just coffee grounds sitting in water for a day or so and then strained, and you're good to go? I think I may try this.

Dannihilator 05-13-15 09:42 PM

Today I decided to make the Puch a monstrosity.

Relax changing pedals tomorrow.

Since I have the steam roller and prefer it over the puch, I'm using the puch to experiment with.

Leukybear 05-13-15 09:58 PM

There's nothing wrong with a bit of function > form.

Yalta Night. LOVE MINE!!!! I can fit so much damn stuff in this it isn't funny. Been using it on my commute to work and am glad that I opted for this one over the Orlov.

Ya, it's awesome. Add enough milk and it tastes like you're drinking coffee ice cream.

Mumonkan 05-14-15 03:39 AM

blech milk in coffee. i do love coffee ice cream tho

cold brew is great cuz it takes the sciencey part out of making coffee, ive been doing it a couple times a week now since i dont have a means of making coffee at work

50voltphantom 05-14-15 07:40 AM

Today (last night) I got my second flat in a week. Gnarly old piece of wire sunk all the way in. Neat.

In other news I'm getting really fast at changing flats. CO2 ftw.

Mumonkan 05-14-15 07:57 AM

i cant remember the last flat i got that wasnt from a piece of old wire.
