Learned that STI brifters don't work well with too much cable tension.

Huffandstuff 05-14-15 09:49 AM

I'm N-2 this year. Sold one and now my Leader is out of commission. Now it's a toss up between an AC Thunderdome or the Dolan Tc1 for my new track bike.

Today I biked to work in a large convoy of ~20 neighbors, including my district's supervisor (Eric Mar) who's a pretty cool guy. Stopped at all 3 of the bike coalitions' energizer stations that were on the way, for a cup of coffee and some snacks. Spent a fun hour and change on my commute, instead of the usual ~20 minute slog. Yay Bike to Work day!

Moving out today! Then I leave Portland for the summer, which'll be a nice break.

Today I found a pretty much brand new murdered out black Mission Workshop messenger at a Buffalo Exchange for $60. Dunno if I should keep it, or sell it!

The manager who showed it to me seemed to think they priced it too low, cause he was really surprised to find out it was that cheap.

Mumonkan 05-14-15 05:46 PM

i wish anyone here gave half a **** about bike to work day. it may have been water dripping from the overpass, but i think someone flung water at me in traffic this morning.

i saw only one person besides myself on a bike and that was on the way home from work. he was in riding gear on a mtb headed to the woods, so he wasnt even commuting.

Went to Hooters today with a few guys to break up our 11 hour class day. Mmmmm sqrls

On that note, I will never go back to Hooters for the food.

Nagrom_ 05-14-15 06:51 PM

Really? Hooters food is actually pretty good.

It would be damned hard to keep a restaurant open with tits alone.

Mumonkan 05-14-15 06:53 PM

didnt say he wasnt goin back tho.

now i want buffalo wild wings.

veganbikes 05-14-15 07:46 PM

Put the 110 headset on my new touring bike and it looks and spins great. Now just need to get the wheel situation finalized and cranks and bottom bracket bought and put her the rest of the way together.

Food wasn't bad, but not exciting enough to go back to. I did like the big big mug of beer.

Nagrom_ 05-14-15 08:11 PM

So you're saying you didn't get the fried pickles and wings to go with your giant mug of beer.

rex615 05-14-15 08:24 PM

I was never a big fan of the Hooters restaurant. I don't really like chicken wings or skinny little girls with plastic tities.

Now, if they had a place called "Cheeks" or "Junk in the Trunk" ........

Nagrom_ 05-14-15 09:00 PM

Where's Ms. Kazz. We need to be yelled at.

Today I decided I'm going to sell the caad 3 and build a more appropriate commuter.

TMonk 05-14-15 09:08 PM

We have The Bullpen right up the hill from work here, which is a Hooters-like establishment. As an extra bonus, it's right next door to Cheetah's, a fully nude strip club, and both establishments are owned by the same people.

After work on weekdays, you get regular working Joes like myself in there, and when there is a big game/fight on, the place is packed with sports fans. After a certain time in the evening, there is a constant stream of strippers and their clientele (or prospective clientele) coming in and out for drinks, as it is illegal to drink in a fully nude strip club in CA.

It can be a pretty sleezy place. Sometimes there seems to be some sort of prostitution and/or drug dealing going on in there, which I don't partake in for obvious reasons. Needless to say, there is some pretty good people-watching to be had in that place. What blows my mind is that sometimes families will be in there with their children. Really? I would never take my children in that place.

Anyway, a few of us have been in there as much as once/week for a few years now, so many of the waitresses are nice to us/on a first name basis. They'll do things like buy us shots of pitchers of beer if they're in the mood, or esp. if we bring female coworkers.

Don't drag me into this man.

Just kidding! I couldn't resist.

TMonk 05-14-15 09:21 PM

Hahaha!

Do you know the place? It's on Clairemont Mesa near the 163 on-ramp.

I did. I even got them to make me fried jalepenos.

I'm by no means a regular but a friend had their bachelor's party there.
So I guess that counts.

TMonk 05-14-15 10:06 PM

Honestly it's not the best place to be a regular at, given how sleezy it is haha.

If it wasn't the closest place to work to grab a beer, I'd rarely (if ever?) go there. We go to Societe Brewing at least as often, but it's a farther walk by a few hundred meters...

Sixty Fiver 05-14-15 10:36 PM

Today we bought an RV... a 1972 Chalet A frame that needs a wee bit of aesthetic work but is in rather excellent shape otherwise.

Cost us less than a good tent.

TIL: BB King died, now im pissed.

Unkle Rico 05-15-15 08:36 AM

Yea, I'm pissed too. Ugh.

Such an amazing man!

Carcosa 05-15-15 09:23 AM

That camper is badass.

Today I rode to work with the mayor and our NHL mascot, got a couple free water bottles, some free coffee, got invited to the first alley cat I've every heard of in our city and I signed up for my first century in August. All before lunch. :thumb:

Huffandstuff 05-15-15 10:31 AM

Had a race official compliment me on my bike fit yesterday, caught me way off guard.

Tomorrow I've got a 110 mile ride planned with friends.

TMonk 05-15-15 10:50 AM

nice fit bruh

also nice ride... i haven't ridden over 70 or 80 miles in years!
