today marks the 16th day in a row that I haven't driven a car. been commuting to work, bar hopping and running around town daily. saving money on gas, getting fitter and racking up the miles.
ps- riser bars and flat pedals around the city is so much fun.....!

I feel your pain. I replaced mine and it still creaks.

I dunno. So far no problems with the BB30 on my Salsa Colossal Ti with about 1200 miles on it. Maybe the problem is with carpet fiber frames ?

I'm at almost 4600 miles on my EVO, the creak started around 4300, I'd say, about a week after riding really hard through a rain storm and ****ty roads.

When I put the new one in, I don't think I used enough loctite as it tends to be fine about 80% of the time. Only hear the creaks when the temp hits above 90 and I'm climbing. Almost like the heat from the road and the mashing on the pedals loosen the loctite and it creaks. Not sure if thats possible, but thats about the only time I hear it.

From what I've read, BB maintenance should happen every couple thousand miles, which I definitely did not do. The creak seems par for the course of not doing said maintenance. The new one would probably be fine, but it's the first BB I ever installed. I wasn't expecting it to be perfect, I was just excited I got everything back together and it's rideable. When the creak becomes constant again, I'll be ready.

Since my crash on 4/9/2015, I've decided that I hate road rash on my hands even more. It's taken 8+ years of cycling glove-less (except in the cold) for me to realize that road rash on your hands is god awful.

Suggestions for low padding/padless gloves welcome!

Today I am enjoying how much easier it is to slack on riding when you're not training.

I've given myself a full month (until June) before I start prescribing workouts and doing high intensity intervals - until then I just want to build volume and get my body used to handling a higher fatigue load than what I've known over the last month. Having said that, I stayed up a little late last night, and when my alarm went off to prep me for a 2hr ride, I just decided to sleep for another hour.

It was awesome.

mechanix gloves, $20 at the hardware store. color options and no padding, can use touch screens cuz leather on the palm side. full finger tho may not jive with cali temps

been using them for years since motorcycle days, if i wear gloves theyre my favorite

The mechanix gloves seem like a good choice. Dunno about the full finger down here in the summer tho

mechanix are very light, ive used them here in 100°+ super humid days. but everyones different

theyre super grippy and ive taken spills on gravel and my palms survived the meat grinder

Carpet fiber. It's also a cannondale, which I believe is the manufacturer with the most issues. Maintenance such as cleaning, regreasing/repacking...whatever it is you do to bearings to make them work properly...things I don't do. I'm not as nice to my bikes as I should be.
