Nothing beats the feeling of scooping/ picking out the old caramelized grease from a bike's 4 looseball orifices.
Reminded me of:

Is it a particularly rare component set etc? What kind of frame and how old of a frame set are we talking? Usually breaking stuff up will yield higher profit but sometimes just selling a whole is a zillion times easier. Variables man.

I'm currently thinking I could save the components for another bike that comes my way. Or I could probably sell the group and frame separately, while keeping the wheels, which are the real highlight of the bike. Decisions are so hard, man.

Last night, I finally got around to lacing my B17. I was starting to occasionally feel the edge of the metal structure in back of the seat.

Haven't had a proper ride on it yet, but a quick go up the street makes me believe it is an improvement.

Hmm.. this statement confuses me for some reason, lacing is to help with the sides not flaring out which doesnt really help anything at the back of the seat. Is it an old seat or new?

The lacing helps keep the back from sagging too.

Wouldnt the adjustment bolt take care of that sagging though?

To an extent, but it isnt always the best solution from what I have seen. If you take a saddle and squeeze the sides in you will see how the back stiffens up. So the lacing acts like a support.

Last night I successfully wrapped my wife's handlebars without using the little strips for the lever clamps. Took me way longer than it should have but it turned out great. The pink in the tape matches the saddle perfectly.

Nice wrap job! I never used the extra piece, but you can usually see a tiny bit of the naked bar on mine if you really look for it. No biggy though, cutting those grams! lol.

I dont have sides on my B17's but I get what your saying. I guess i was just thinking that the lacing really only helps out the middle section of the seat and not so much the back.

I'll take some better pics tonight. Yep, it's an orange FW40 (best $250 I've ever spent). The pic of the wrap job is crappy because it was late and I was too tired to arrange for better lighting. That saddle+tape combo really took the bike up a notch visually.

The seat has at most a couple thousand miles and only got a little wet twice.

This. It felt like the tension was fine, but the back was a little sunken in. Lacing it makes the depressions less apparent and firms up that area.

i still always have to redo the figure 8 like 4 times till i get it right, but its so much better than that little extra piece

is that the profile design tape?

For being so concerned about the saddle and bar tape matching, at what point did you omit the concern for either matching the frame?
