on paper, the wolverine will win. bigger tire clearance, taller headtube (fewer spacers) and nicer tubing.
my only concern is that it won't be as bombproof as the straggler. I will swap everything from my straggler over....if I decide. we'll see.

Today I bought clipless pedals and shoes and made it up the 14% grade into my subdivision with my new bike.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HCAZoaNMvP...600/pedals.jpg

This is my first SSFG and I hit a wall about two thirds of the way up the hill in the first two attempts with the stock 48/16 and platform pedals. The last time I walked a bike up a hill was when I was twelve years old and having to do it now was embarrassing.

A small ding in my bank account, a few hours time, a new tube of blue loctite and the word "redemption" came to mind as I powered over the top. Felt really good. They aren't super stiff carbon road shoes but it's still amazing what a difference even lace-up shoes make when clipped in.

I'm used to the ease and float of Speedplay pedals. The SPD SH51 single release cleats were super easy to get used to and I'm happy with them at about 2/3 tension. The jury is still out on relative lack of float.

It never ceases to amaze me how many folks live to provide other people unwanted advice. I am pretty sure a lot of posts in the "Today I" are not specific to SS or FG bikes.

Glad you were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of that trail, and or appreciate a pretty cool bike, in place of worrying about other stuff....

Mumonkan 08-17-15 04:46 PM

lol. bf needs to chill.

Holy smokes, so serious. I was just taking the piss. I wholeheartedly support the riding of any bikes(well, except tall double bikes) by anyone!

Damn man, that **** is painful. Grade 3 is complete joint separation from the socket. Happens when the joint ligament and supporting tendon both tear.

Seems to me a lot of folks, "take a piss" on other folks' stuff, when it would be just as easy to type something like beautiful place or nice bike. I am not upset, be instead pointing out something that I see adds a negative, when a positive is just as easy. Let's save the negativity for when we actually want to consciously tell someone we do not like something.

Just my take on it...

To each their own, but I will choose to be a Richard when their is value to it, versus 24/7.

Listed the bmx bike today.

Picking up a 2001 Subaru Forester this Wednesday. Blown head gaskets so I guess it needs a new motor :p

Ouch...that explains a lot. I should have asked but the tech didn't see anything and the radiologist called me once he took a look...at that point, I had already started my pain pill regimen.

Today, I laid off the pain pills and used some greener medication. Blue Dream did an excellent job treating the pain and allowing me to work from home. Feels way better than being strung out on prescription drugs anyway.

That is actually clever way of expressing it, and congratulations on your raise.

You guys just don't understand how poor we all are.

cali_axela 08-17-15 08:41 PM

Especially in the Bay Area, that's still pretty tough to live on.
