Uhhh. Cuz steel is real?

The lugged ones are more usually more desirable than TIG'd ones.

Found this Bridgestone MB-4 frame in a free pile around town. Only had some disc wheels spare so I made a disc tab and brazed it on with some silver. My brazing is a bit out of practice :( Needed more flux and better heat control to wet out better. It gets the job done though. I love building ugly bikes from trash!

Nice. How did you go about aligning the mount and keeping it fixed in place? What gas did you use for your torch?

Mumonkan 08-19-15 04:37 PM

today was my first day running tubeless

today was my first tubeless puncture.

protip: a piece of latex glove band can be used as a tubeless rope patch

The Mammoth Gran Fondo? I'm doing that too; I did it last year for the first time and it was great... super intense doing that much elevation at that altitude if you're not used to it.

Noice integralter you have there. Is it 1 1/8ths?

Muffin Man 08-19-15 10:41 PM

Why does that look like an integrated bar/stem combo?

Is that hole a cable stop? Raddest CX bars EVER!

B&W pic has no hole. must be non-CX version

Yup, they have internal cable routing.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...s/100_0993.jpg

They're much too deep for CX nevertheless. Compact drops were never heard of in their time.

Alter pinup girls are nice though.

Muffin Man 08-19-15 11:11 PM

Those are ******.

You'd have to be running '70 style CX brake levers (non-aero) to use stem cable stop anyways.

Why would you want a bar that you can't adjust for personal preference?

Unkle Rico 08-19-15 11:44 PM

It looks cool, duh

Regulatori 08-20-15 01:11 AM

I had the Klein MC2 setup on my old Adroit. It sucked not having adjustments but there was just something so cool about it...maybe part of it is the fact it's something that sits right in front of you on rides so you get to actually admire it.

Kind of like owning a functional but great looking steering wheel in a car (like an old Nardi Classic).

I find this to be so true on some bikes. It can be a really cool top cap or an unusual front hub. That stem/bar combo would certainly qualify.

Never understood this either.

TMonk 08-20-15 08:41 AM

novelty.

50voltphantom 08-20-15 09:27 AM

I love it looks-wise but the welds on the sides of the stem would make me nervous.

Dannihilator 08-20-15 09:32 AM

Today I got in another 42 miles.

Probably because your personal preferences are wrong! Cinelli figured out the optimal stem and handlebar for everyone.
