Better than falling in front of the wheels of a moving car.

Better than getting effed in the bee.

Today I cut the steer tube and installed a star nut on the Mr P at the co op.

Though I noobed it up and trimmed my FD cable and forgot I didn't have any more cable ends. So I left it over night and it frayed on me.

seau grateau 05-14-13 04:16 PM

Meh. My bikes never get cable ends unless the LBS is doing the job.

Today I had to write the same article three times because I suck at not accidentally deleting everything.

calv 05-14-13 04:44 PM

Do they end up fraying? There were a few times where I didn't put a cable tip (just too lazy) and they didn't fray. Seemed perfectly fine.

The cable on the FD got frayed really badly, though. Probably due to the ****ty cut from the Pedros cutters.

seau grateau 05-14-13 04:49 PM

Yeah mine tend to stay intact unless I'm a total idiot about cutting them.

Mumonkan 05-14-13 04:56 PM

oddly enough i find that if i cut them really fast they dont fray, but if i sit there dicking around not squeezing the cutters hard enough it gets all mangled

sinikl 05-14-13 05:21 PM

You can melt some solder on the end if you have the materials... sorted. Course if you don't have ends, probably you don't have a soldering iron kickin around.

It's an IRO Mark V with Chris King NoThreadSet, Thompson stem, Mavic CXP22 wheelset, and Gatorskin rear tire.

Nice job. Glad to see the CL kustom fixay post wasn't just spam, and you got steered in the right direction. Now go ride the wheels off that thing!

Never had any luck getting the solder to stick to stainless steel.

Our design professors told us we couldnt solder copper wires to staples to hold a project down... Four kids came in to crits with exactly that done, it was somewhat amusing to see their bewildered faces

Dannihilator 05-14-13 06:47 PM

Today I had a good 40 miles and the new fork arrived for the 930.

Tomorrow I will install it.

gregjones 05-14-13 06:49 PM

Arrive today.........install tomorrow?

That's gettin' after it!!!

Were they stainless steel staples?

Dannihilator 05-14-13 06:54 PM

I usually go right to install it, didn't feel like it today. My unicrown problem will be gone now.

no idea what kind of staples they were, just werent supposed to be solder-able.

But if you cant solder to stainless, just wrap a thin gauge copper wire around it and use a generous amount of solder

gregjones 05-14-13 07:17 PM

For a stranded cable, just swipe some super glue along where you want to cut it. Wait a minute, then cut.

Muffin Man 05-14-13 07:29 PM

Today I crashed, and got a **** ton of road rash.

Dannihilator 05-14-13 07:29 PM

Sounds painful...

Muffin Man 05-14-13 07:45 PM

Doesn't hurt now anymore, but I'm so excited for tomorrow morning.

Adrian_ 05-14-13 08:12 PM

The thing I hate most about road rash, is depending on how deep it goes the spot sticks to band aids (or in my case bed sheets) if you've been in the same spot for a while. Hurts like hell to peel whatever sticks off.

hairnet 05-14-13 09:11 PM

Shave around the wound and get some Tegaderms and athletic tape. no more bandages

Today I slapped two cars on my way to/from work. How oblivious are people to pass me and then later slowly merge into the bike lane as I'm right beside the PASSENGER WINDOW. Nevermind my size and super bright lights.

Muffin Man 05-14-13 09:20 PM

Most of the wounds are on my back/side, so there wasn't hair to begin with. I guess I kinda got lucky with that.
