Yeah shipping is like $10, I don't even know why I'm thinking about it. They almost got me. In other news, today I'm gonna turn my gold cranks into silver cranks.

Today I think I'm gonna get drunk at home alone, just because.

Remember the words of wisdom from W.C. Fields: "never drink unless you're alone or with someone."

Today, JRA, got a bee sting in my crotch. Missed The Equipment by mere centimeters. :notamused:

Anybody make Kevlar bike shorts?

IthaDan 07-01-13 07:12 PM

Got sick of shopping around for some 1" threadless spacers, so DIY'd some.

They're brass, so not only are they heavy, they'll scratch if you look at them wrong, but for the time being they sure are purdy:

Today during my commute I gave a bee a lift from Mar Vista to Venice.

Excuse the lack of manscaping.

An out of focus bee on my shoulder blade. There is only so much I can do with a phone camera held over my head.

striknein 07-02-13 01:14 PM

You've got a weird lookin' taint, friend. And if there's one thing I know, it's weird lookin' taints.

Today I'm probably going to submit an offer on a house. I'm a little terrified.

Had to pick up some 1" plate stock across campus today. 45# later, I found myself here:

banner day for wildlife on the ride home:

-turkey sitting in a tree
-5-6mo old coyote kit
-River Otter (first time)

Leukybear 07-02-13 05:38 PM

Today under the word of the internet and friends I went with the sqrl to taco bell to try some locos tacos. I got a definitive definition of "meh" for [strike]food[/strike] "edible matter" now.

Dannihilator 07-02-13 07:32 PM

Today I toyed around on the dirt jumper.

Nagrom_ 07-02-13 07:32 PM

The sqrl's dad crashed his S2 over the weekend, so today I got it rolling again. New RD, hanger, chain, cassette, housing, and cable. Couple hundred bucks in damage after the cost of two day shipping cause he's leaving for a race this weekend.

Boy do I love recabling S2's.

Mumonkan 07-02-13 07:50 PM

how did he damage the cassette and not the frame?

Cassette lost a few teeth to a bent chain caused by the broken derailleur.

Mumonkan 07-02-13 07:57 PM

woof. kinda miraculous it was the metal parts that broke and not the plas-tec

Quick glance looks like well done giftwrapping.
In other news, I'm spending the next couple days in Ithaca with family. Got any recommendations for coffee and/or chill rides?

johnnytheboy 07-03-13 08:36 AM

Yesterday i got in 41 on the s5.
Today I'm officially taking the day off from riding.....10 days straight....
Some friends and I might go for a century tomorrow.

Nag- you think fishing cables through an s2 is torture, just wait until you have to route di2 through a Tarmac frame with a Calfee seatpost battery.
I've "designed" several "tools" to help me with internally routed frames......it gets easier every time you do it.
My kryptonite is 3T base bar cabling......can take 12secs one time and an hour the next.

Coffee is easy. Gimme coffee is the local staple, either location downtown should be easy enough to locate.

Riding wise it all depends what you're in for, Ithaca isn't exactly a town made for riding fixed. There are plenty of little rides around town- farmers mkt to Stewart park on the waterfront trail isn't bad, but anything more than about 5 miles requires some relatively serious climbing. One of the flatter rides is out 89 on the west side of the lake to taughannock park. That's about 20 miles round trip. Send me a PM if you'd like, I can probably answer this better once I know what you're in for.

Today because of the set up for the Boston Pops it took me nearly two hours to my 35~min commute. I thought I was going to turn into Michael Douglass in falling down.
