Today i realized that.. I really want a dynohub setup on my winter bike but i dont know **** about them. Ideas?

I love that website.

I love(d) my SP hub for the first year or so, but lately it has been getting pretty flakey. I wonder what sort of maintenance / service I can do on it, to return to its original glory? It only works above ~15mph now when it used to work above ~5mph, and it no longer holds a charge and keeps the light on while stopped, it flickers off as soon as I slow down.

I made some rings yesterday because it was so damn slow at work.

i meant to write that as no to shimano, but yes to sp/son

the reason i went with son is because SP doesnt let you do any maint without taking your wheel apart and sending the the hub for service to korea

which is, from what ive heard, as annoying as it sounds

I made the decision that I need to sell my Mash Work Frame today. I don't want to, but I can't justify a bike sitting around not getting ridden. I'm still on the fence about some of my other bikes, too.

Today I celebrate my 21st birthday. Should be a killer one compared to the last three(Pro tip: tell people your bd is coming up; you'll have more fun.)

Starting the day with a solo morning ride to coyote hills/dumbarton bridge then skating Oakland/Emeryville with my friends till sundown. Hopefully ending the day with those long awaited white russians and tap brews. I also intend to take advantage of every restaurant that offers free food on birthdays.

today i rode a bike for the first time since july 3, when i broke my wrist falling off a bike.

But seriously, it is a little weird. 99% will wipe off of your hands with paper towel. Any soap is good enough for total clean up. NO smell whatsoever. The tube tip applicator makes it easy to use.

To my surprise though, it being clear is actually a drawback during assembly, because it's hard to see if you've applied enough. It is truly CLEAR. I'd never considered that. Placing individual loose balls is weird too because the background for the shiny steel balls is a shiny steel race, instead of a colored bed. It's a little bit of an eye teaser.

Seems to work just fine. Quiet and smooth. The temps here have dropped a lot so I can't give it a "heat test", although I tried.

Today is my second full day of recovery from a hernia operation.
I'm off the bike for 6 weeks.
...at least when the wait is over, it will be over.

A few years ago, I spent a summer with TWO broken wrists (not from biking, though). Initially, riding was out of the question, because my left arm was casted from the armpit to the tip of the thumb. The right one was a short cast, below the elbow. After four weeks, they gave me a short cast on the left, although it still covered the thumb. In that getup found I could not ride my road bike with drop bars, but my mountain bike was no problem. I had trouble reaching the front brake lever because of how the cast was shaped on that side, but I could use the rear brake just fine. I didn’t ride a lot, but managed to get out a few times.

When I went to get the casts off, I confessed to my doctor that I’d been on my bike with them. I expected to get lectured about the foolishness of that choice, but he didn’t make a big deal of it at all. He did, however, insist that I not ride anymore for at least the first two or three weeks out of the casts.

I’m sure you know this, but the key is to take it slowly. Impatience will not benefit you in the long run. If you ease back into it, you’ll be fully functional again in short time.

I'm interested because I've purchased Shimano Dura Ace C24 wheels and so have entered the world of loose bearings. I'll probably pick up a tube to add to my 2,957 other lubricants in the garage.

In the mean time, I'd really appreciate if you could rent a blast heater at the HD and set the bike up on a trainer in the basement. Let me know when you get that done.

Today there is a gas shortage in Atlanta due to the broken pipeline in Alabama.

About half the gas stations are out of gas and the governor has declared a state of emergency in case things get out of hand.

The situation isn't really that bad but it has given ordinary people license to act like idiots. Everyone is trying to fill up and lines of cars block intersections and subdivision entrances and no one seems to have the courtesy to leave enough space for a car to get through. People see that a station is out of gas and just stop in the middle of a busy road road to look at their phone or they hang a wild u-turn without looking. These are just examples.

I work from home and can walk to the stores so it isn't a big deal to me but many are freaking out and acting like the apocalypse is imminent.
