Just curious. How did you manage to break both?

Standing on a little stepladder to work on something in my garage, I stumbled and fell. I landed on my feet initially, but then fell back and caught myself with my hands. Wrists took the brunt of the force--my butt didn't hit until after both hands did. I knew the right one was broken right away, but later found out the left was too. Odd thing was that the left was actually a worse fracture. It turned out to be an *interesting* summer.

I am so happy that i do not depend on a car for "living"

Suburbia was one of the worst inventions of the 20th century.

Everything is remote from the house. Without a car you starve and die.

Sterile subdivisions where next door neighbors don't even know each others name's and you can't get from one neighborhood to another or to a store, church or doctor without taking a car on a busy connector street.

I am also happy that I have a gym, restaurants, banks and supermarkets within walking distance.

Today I got on my bike for the first time in almost 2 weeks. Sciatic nerve pinched in my left hip. Brutal pain, all bed rest. I couldn't stand for 5 minutes. Pain went from my hip to my toes. Left foot is still numb, but getting better.

Went for a short spin and it felt really good.

Depends on what you're looking for. If I was gonna be here for a short stay, I'd probably go for Chinatown, DTLA, Echo Park, Los Feliz, maybe Koreatown. But then I'm partial to the east side. If you're looking to chill at the beach, head west.

So, uh, bringing a bike?

Mumonkan 09-20-16 07:10 PM

lookin like echo park, close to griffith park which has some trails (i think) and everyone seems to mention it

prob no bikes in LA, stopping by the scrods in SD first which might include some bikes, hangin there for a couple days, then gonna visit a buddy from work on the 4th, then goin out to temecula for worktime the next weekend

seau grateau 09-20-16 08:26 PM

Nice, Griffith is a cool spot. I go there for the paved roads, but there's some trails too.

I did my first race on my new sscx build last night (Trophy Cup), great success. Pretty sure I got 4th, but the official results aren't up yet. Soo much more fun than riding my mtb in cross races.

Boone 7 canti. Comes with TRP RevoX stock, probably gonna stick with that unless I decide I hate them. I've read good reviews though

Yass.

I also have a set of RevoX coming in today. Hopefully we have good luck.

Sure hope so. Cantis are way more europro. It also doesn't rain much in the bay area, so most races are pretty dry and don't require the additional stopping power of discs. I get to use wheels I already own for this bike also, so that's chillin

Mumonkan 09-22-16 09:17 AM

officially will be in SD/LA in a week. so ****ing excited. best year ever!

seau grateau 09-23-16 07:08 PM

Today I hit a rock and flatted a mile into my ride. Which was kinda weird because I checked the tube, and it was a pinch flat, and I had pumped the tire up to 100 right before I walked out the door. Also I dropped my chain shifting into the little ring on a climb. And my bike has developed an annoying click.

Lol. Then I checked Strava and found out I got a bunch of PR's, including the climb where I dropped my chain (FLEEEXXXXXX). So I take it back, that was a good ride.
