Merino is straight up magic. My goal is to eventually replace every piece of cotton clothing I own with merino
|
I won't ride in cotton ever again.
Today I am going to commute to work by bike. Been slacking off on that lately but today is forecasted for a nice day. |
Today i planned on food shopping and errands but after i went down the road to the post office in the rain in 46º and my hands were already going numb, i decided to stay home and cook food instead
|
Today I built up my new to me Steamroller:thumb:

Piiiiics

Today (as in 5 minutes ago) I finished making my first carbon saddle! It looks unfinished at the moment as I want to actually test that the thing doesn't fall apart underneath me before I glam it up with a finishing coat of epoxy.

Today my soul has decided that i will goto burning man next year.

Today I let someone try my fixed gear bike after the roadie group ride. He put on his flat bottom sneakers, I gave him some pointers on how not to crash and he set off for a cautious spin around the parking lot. I could tell he was intimidated and he took it really slow.
60 seconds later he pulls up with a grin saying, "Holy ****, that's completely different. Nothing like a road bike. I can't believe how different it is. Wow!" and such things. I love it when that happens. -Tim- |

My goal is to wick sweat and such away not soak it in and let it sit there for a while. When I rode in cotton I would get chafed and have many issues. Wearing good synthetics have all but stopped that except for this little incident.
I guess my skin is different than many of you. The synthetics themselves (no sweat even required) give me nasty rashes. |

I went for an easy ride on my geared bike, about 12 miles and moderate pace. Not long ago I upgraded a bunch of parts, most notably the shifters (always wanted bar ends), and seat (trying out a Brooks for the first time). I've now done 60 or 70 miles with them, and so far-so good!

Black wheels/spokes/hub with silver nipples looks nice.
What's the large black thing on the bar where it meets the stem? -Tim- |
Looks a carrying vessel attach-o-mabob
|
Finished swapping all the parts from my Bianchi to my new to me Surly Steamroller today! This bike is slightly heavier probably due to the weight of the 35c tires -- Bike feels a little sluggish vs. the Bianchi but overall rides much better. The stem is a little longer than i'm used to but the more i ride it the more used to it i'll get. Really really pleased with how this bike came out even though there are some small scuffs all over the bike.

Nice!
Just sold my steamroller and a bunch of spare parts I had no use for at a swap meet today. Now I can afford to get a new garmin to replace the one I broke in a crash. |

Rico, that's a nice looking Creamroller. I like your current setup better than how you got it. What crank is that?
|
Thanks :thumb:
It is an FSA crank

I punked myself this week. Story time:
I rode to work last Friday and flatted 2 miles into my 10 mile commute and had to change my flat in the cold, in the dark. All goes smoothly, but I wasted 1.5 cartridges inflating my tire because I inflated, deflated slightly, re-inflated to make sure the tube wasn't pinched (stupid, yes). I pack up my tools with the cartridge still threaded into my cheap inflator head. 3 hours later I hear a loud PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! from my saddle bag. Inflator cracked and died. Well crap, "I better do something about this!" and immediately order an inflator from Silca....which is currently project to arrive Friday.....so no real rides for me until it arrives because I couldn't wait until Saturday to hit a LBS. Idiot. |

Today I stopped in at the LBS and discussed with them having a set of wheels built over the winter.
