The other day I finally got around to starting my road build.
Converted to threadless. I really liked the fork, but the steerer tube was about a cm short with the fsa headset that came with the fork. Lowest stack headset and stem I could find, slammed, and I still had to face about 4mm from the top and 2mm off the bottom of the headtube but it works. http://i.imgur.com/3uioUNX.jpg |
Today I started really concentrating on getting the fit of my endurance road bike completely done. Swapped to a 80mm stem and have come to the realization that the bars are too damn wide. The bike rides really nicely but I have never gotten the fit right. 56 felt too small and 58 was slightly too big with the huge stem that it had on there. Figured I could make it work a bit more swapping a stem out and saddle adjustments. It never felt right though and I think that the bar is the culprit. Going to be swapping bars out this weekend and redoing the tape and cables......damn I like having a fixed gear without that hot mess of cables and hoods.

My daughter is a nursing assistant, so when she got home late last night, I had her check it with her cuff and stethoscope. Her reading was much lower than what the Red Cross guy got. Seems like he'd be good at it, since he probably does it dozens of times a day. :foo:

Aparently that table (and the rest of the entire house, including the stone) is made entirely from trees gathered from the property. The table was built in the room and it does not come apart. Pretty cool. |

Today I went about 50 miles on my FG conversion. I rode to this little dive for a late lunch. Pork sandwich and an ice cold Coke. Yum!

To me, with bikes as with most things in life, neatness counts. I love this crank, and the gear ratio I have now. As you can see, there's plenty of tire clearance back here too. Whoever designed this frame was very generous with the chainstay length. Nice! Looks like that frame/fork was probably made for 27" wheels, which means plenty of room to play with when running 700c.
