Nice! Looks like that frame/fork was probably made for 27" wheels, which means plenty of room to play with when running 700c.

Yes, indeed. The original 27s were boat anchors. I'm really happy with my Velocity Deep Vs, even though I had to buy a super long reach caliper.

Nagrom, I'll guess Volvo 240 Turbo wagon. I think this matches your style. (I hope I win!)

Well the engine came out of an 85 245GLT Turbo, so you're kinda right.
Here's a hint: it's pretty much a 242 but you're gonna hit your head.

I had one of the most annoying bike rides today -- Construction sucks.

Flats, detours, or traffic?

Unkle Rico 10-30-16 07:15 PM

Mega detours :crash:

The Mrs. did a 1/2 marathon and I biked out to meet her -- Took local bike paths / streets to get there. It was only about 15 miles, but the trails would just end without any sort of signage before getting to the end. Did so much back tracking and whipping out the phone to figure out the best way to go.

Perfect weather though -- cold and crisp.

It'd be hard to hit your head in a convertible haha

Not so! What if you drive under some low tree branches?

I should have guessed. I was not familiar with that model, but I did see it while doing some quick research earlier, prompted by your posts above. That's an... interesting model. Not one that appeals to me, but seems unique, collectible, eye catching. The long, low roofline and huge C-pillar are reminiscent of the Jaguar XJ-S or Chrysler Imperial. I'm sure the Volvo is much more reliable than the Jag, and it's certainly better looking than the Chrysler.

Today I saw the USAF Thunderbirds, World War II Corsair and P51, F/A-18 Hornet...

today i set the riv up tubeless. rode a trail yesterday and flatted twice. woke up this morning to flat front tire. tried to run tubes after years of tubeless and ended up regretting it. fwiw, kenda tubeless tires mounted up super easily to the cr-18s. haven't lost 1psi in 16hrs. shoulda done this sooner.

Haha - their early (1st?) Bertone "joint" venture...

I've never liked it much when guys here turn the slightest mention of another member's car into an on & on about more cars, but having been a pretty long-time Volvo fanboi, and until early this summer owning one of the more unique (if not the coolest) Volvos in the US - I just can't stop myself....

Until this past summer - my long-term project car, and pretty regular driver too, was a turbo Redblock 780 Bertone. The big difference being that that no 780s ever came from the factory with a stick shift like mine, which was converted to a M46 4-speed with P-type overdrive that worked as 5th. Lots of other go-fast doo-dads too. That thing was damned quick & handled like it was on rails - fooled a lot of Jap tuner cars and hotted-up bimmers and such with it.

Don't ask me what happened - the pain is too fresh & I still have a ton of spare parts I'd gathered for it sitting around that I can't bring myself to just dump :(

OK that's enough about cars - back to bikes...

Today I'm about to sell my car.

Today I'm giving out those awful Heath bars to the bratty teenagers.

The cute little kids are getting Reeses.

Today I got thiiiiiiis close to hopping on my bike and going for a short spin, then decided it's not really worth risking my life for. Two more long and agonizing weeks until my next checkup appointment, to see how the titanium face is healing and whether I'm officially cleared to ride bikes again. So also today, I ordered a fancy MIPS helmet for when I can ride again.

Hang in there. No reason to jump back into it before the doc clears you. But here's hoping you can ride again soon!
