Today I held and straddled a 2016 Cervelo R5 with Dura Ace Di2 and HED Ardennnes+ SL wheels.
Probably not going to sleep tonight. |
Today I stopped in at the shop to pick up some tubes and shoot the bs for a minute with my buddy. Customer was getting some tires put on some wheels. I notice the wheels. Black H+Son Archetypes. I ask my buddy where the guy got them from. He says some online store, can't remember the name. Retro something or rather. I say Retrogression? He says yeah, that is the one. Just thought it was kind of cool knowing about it before he did.

Alamo drafthouse is where it's at. they will physically remove you if you're caught texting, calling or even talking to the person beside you. it's amazing.

I just browsed through the rules and noticed the "Weapons Policy," first movie theater I've ever seen that had to state that you shouldn't bring guns to see a movie. but maybe that's just texas
Only "long guns and unlicensed guns are prohibited", everything else is OK. |

I've read about this on a film forum that I visit. Someone posted a comment that the owner/manager made in a newspaper in response to a comment by an angry patron who had been booted. His comment (and attitude) were very brutal, like "Good riddance and never come back!" I loved it. He was hard core in favor of protecting the audience that cared about the film experience.

That's the type of person that seems to be in every theater that I go to. Looney and rude. |
|
today I ran 12 miles, eats in to my biking time but feels good
|
Today I did 20 miles and decided Wabi needs to make a dirt/CX/gravel frame.

The ironic thing is, the folks carrying "unlicensed" firearms aren't going to care what the theater's rules say. They're going to carry anyway. |

kind of reminds me of a dumb article from a while back where some guy tried to sue a school because they wouldn't let him bring his gun on the premises. |
I found out the one, and only weekend of CX racing in my town is cancelled. Thinking about putting together an event myself if I had the time.

Test rode a Nature Boy disc today at the LBS. It is down to $800 brand new. Must. Not. Buy.

But you gotta.

today I got a new bike. will update tomorrow with new saddle and drivetrain and racks. |
I'm an admitted a retro-grouch & GP fanboi riding an RB-1 for my last remaining roadie so I've always coveted a Rivendell bike & occasionally have been awfully close to pulling the trigger on a cheapie(?) Clem Smith Jr...but couldn't. The damned things are so expensive, especially their completes like your Appalosa or a Sam Hillborne
Guess what I'm saying is...I'm jelly  |
Today I realized that I left my Canon Rebel XS in my car since Sunday. There have been some break ins at my complex. Just went out to check on my car (rode my bike to work yesterday). It was still there luckily. Won't be doing that again.

Today I endured another 24 hours of house cleaning, family junk, work, waiting in idiotic texting traffic, solving other peoples' kcuf-ups, and handing out favors with a smile, because tomorrow after work I'm driving down to Retrogression to pick up my spokes, nipples and remaining bike parts from Scrod to build up my GT and my GF's Waterford.
Feels like I'm cheating or taking a short-cut, not having to buy derailleurs, brake calipers, cables and brifter$. :thumb: GF: "Wait, that's it? We're done already?!" |
Today I'm bionic man -- I have four titanium plates screwed into my face, to replace several cheek, eye, and nose bones shattered in a terrible crash I had last week riding home at night. Pretty crazy.

Not sure what to say. You are OK enough to be typing here, but are you OKAY OKAY? What happened, if you don't mind sharing? |

Riding back to the shop after a group ride, going ~27mph on the road after some fun trail riding (all on cross bikes). I was in the lead group, but back of paceline, of 4 guys. There was a piece of metal debris from a car, one of the lead riders kicked it up and it either got caught in my front wheel or somehow made it turn sideways; I took all the force of the full speed fall to my face. Bike is fine, helmet has a crack on same side, but mostly hit with jaw and cheek bones. Four hours of surgery, went smoothly I guess? Have my first post surgery checkin tomorrow and will find out more details of the extent and healing process. Still can barely stand up without feeling dizzy and left side of face completely numb, starting to get some movement back in it though. Even so, I'm pretty damn excited for healing up enough to get back on my bike, soon as I'm able. |

I have no memories, but a reconstruction based on Strava data and friends' limited viewpoints:

Those blows to the melon where it knocks the memories out are nasty. Unfortunately I've had a couple. Keep your fingers crossed. Sometimes they slowly return. Not that you'd want to relive the moment over and over :p but it's nice to be able recall how it happened just for closure. Speedy recovery to ya. |
keep an eye on it. I had a TBI a few years ago and everything seemed fine til a few months ago...my short term memory is almost nonexistent now...
