I'll get Bud once in a while if a bar has it on tap. Seems to taste better that way.

Today I did 33 miles, 2000 feet of climbing. Starting to develop a love/hate relationship with hills.

Bud...

Beautiful Backroads Century starts at the Bud plant north of Atlanta. The plant manager is a cyclist. They get a one day pouring license and the ride includes free beer after.

This is the best ride in the Atlanta area. Sept 17. I'm probably doing the metric.

Looks like Bud in the water bottles :)

Could be Bud Light, that stuff is pretty much the same as water anyway.

18.0 average. I'm pretty pleased with that.

Now I will nap.

Track session got cut a little short because air quality was absolutely **** tonight. Something in or near the valley was very on fire.

Also RIP Gene Wilder. : [

Word! Goodbye to an acting great...his movies were always great and have stood the test of time. Dude was a great guy and while I am sad he is gone I am glad he went out with his family by his side and his favorite music!

I probably ought to binge watch, Willy Wonka..., Silver Streak, Blazing Saddles, Stir Crazy and all the other splendifourus movies he was in!

Yeah, so many to choose from. I re-watched Young Frankenstein last night, one of my all-time favs ever since my dad showed it to me years ago.

just got back from 3 days in Yosemite... wow. I'm used to playing around in the High Sierra, and have been in Tuolumne Meadows, but never the valley proper. Although fairly low in elevation (4,000 ft at the floor), the sheer magnitude and size of the granite walls surrounding the valley is truly awesome, and gives it a high-altitude feel.

I'm going next year. Update me on what you recommend to check out or to avoid. Have fun!

I go to Yellowstone next month. 1 national park a year.

I highly recommend the Half Dome hike. From the Happy Isles TH in the valley, it's a grueling 16 mi round trip with 4,800' of elevation, a real tough hike. Plus the cables up the final Dome are a little spooky, esp. if you're afraid of heights. Still, I strongly recommend it.

We also checked out Glacier Point, which is a must from a viewpoint perspective. It's kind of a long drive for not much walking, but you can do the nearby Sentinel Dome to make the drive up and over the valley a little more worth it. The Point is where John Muir showed Yosemite to Teddy Roosevelt, so that's got to be worth something.

As a last note, make sure that you spend some time exploring random bends and meanders of the Merced River. It's fairly easy to park somewhere in the valley, walk through a meadow and find a secluded beach with some nice deep pools for swimming.

I don't really have any recommendations of things to avoid :). The villages can be a bit busy and tourist-y (as to be expected), but we found the convenience of pizza and beer totally worth it after Half Dome. Plus, we didn't have to cook or do dishes :).

Enjoy Yellowstone, and report back as well! It's still a bucket list trip for me.

Same boat so good. The lady's never seen that one but like blazing saddles. Time to share it with her

I am not riding bike. Need a day off, or two.

cali_axela 08-31-16 09:55 AM

Today I almost have my new sscx built up, entirely from the spare parts bin with a few cheap used parts purchases off friends (wheelset and brakeset). Thought I had the right size seatpost collar laying around but didn't. And, I ran out of zip ties. To the LBS for headset installation and steerer cutting tomorrow, once I've got the last bits done after work tonight!

Today I did 25 miles with some interval training. Only meant to do about 20, but I guess I got a little delirious between sets and lost track of my mileage.

Mumonkan 08-31-16 05:17 PM

wood ride.

Dang, I'd be up for Colorado hillclimbing (gonna try to hit Rollins Pass before it gets too snowy), but going to Heber City, UT this weekend.

TenSpeedV2 08-31-16 06:48 PM

Today I rode my bike and made great tips delivering sandwiches for a couple of hours on a beautiful college campus.

Arrowana 08-31-16 09:06 PM

Today I rode ~19 miles, tuned up 2 bikes at work, sold a seatpost, and watched/heckled a cross race. I think I'll have to participate in the race next week.

Were you like me and realized you should've brought your bike 5 minutes after you got there?

seau grateau 09-01-16 03:04 PM

Today I'm trying a new sunscreen that smells ****ing delicious (Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF 70). It's one of those instant nostalgia smells where you can't place it right away. I'll just be smelling my arms all day trying to figure out what it reminds me of.
