Today someone in NJ placed an online order for a 5mm headset spacer. One. Single. Spacer.

Business of any kind is always appreciated but that's a little wacky, no?

Regulatori 03-09-16 04:24 PM

Must have been someone that deal with similar LBS as me.
I remember all of the standard hook-ups....like if you're missing a chain-ring bolt, they'll just grab one out of a bin. Like I mentioned in a previous thread (that you quoted), now it's all about "Let me get on the computer and see if I can get you one."

I'm not talking about just going to a bike shop and expecting these freebies...I'm talking about during a different job (like you bought a new bottom bracket from their shop and having them install it) and it's something they notice.
It seems to be more often the case with the corporate stores.

dude, NJ is a weird ****in place. filled with weird ****in people.

what was the town? there are a few really good shops there and ill laugh if theyre within spitting distance of any of them

Scrodzilla 03-09-16 06:09 PM

Rutherford, NJ.

Angie said the shipping charge cost more than the spacer itself.

I like NJ and I live here. However, I won't argue that it's not weird or isn't filled with weird people. That said, ordering a 5mm spacer from San Diego is strange indeed.

Mumonkan 03-09-16 06:59 PM

there are some great aspects of nj, i wont argue there

ive contemplated moving there numerous times

SCK 03-09-16 07:02 PM

It has some good points. I'm not so much a fan of the New York suburbs that are most of North Jersey.

Mumonkan 03-09-16 07:17 PM

best mtb riding in the north tho, double edge sword :\

SCK 03-09-16 07:27 PM

I'm sure that's true. I don't MTB (yet), so that is not something I've experienced. It's either farmland, rich suburbs or abject poverty within 20 minutes of where I am depending on the direction you go. On my typical loop that I ride I can hit all of those areas in one go.

Mumonkan 03-09-16 07:32 PM

that seems to be the case of any given spot in NJ, which is one of the things i find so strange about it

SCK 03-09-16 07:44 PM

Indeed. I work in Trenton which is surrounded by affluent towns. Trenton, however is overrun with crime and I'm often sent into the thick of it -- camera in hand.

Mumonkan 03-09-16 07:48 PM

i rode the D&L into trenton once.

i encountered many used needles and a dead dog.

i havent been back.

SCK 03-09-16 07:52 PM

Eh, it's got problems, but I've also managed to find the good in it after six years.

Mumonkan 03-09-16 08:03 PM

ive been on staten island for 30 years and i just started finding the good, lmao

TimothyH 03-09-16 08:25 PM

Glad I didn't buy that KMC missing link from retro-aggression.

SCK 03-09-16 08:43 PM

Buy as much or as little as you need. I've definitely ordered stuff from RG I could source locally because I'm lazy at times, and I found it quickly on the website.

hairnet 03-09-16 08:50 PM

Today I was welding in a ditch. It was rad and ****ty at the same time.

SCK 03-09-16 08:52 PM

Sounds like a good time.

I just thought it was kinda funny. Usually spacers, tubes, axle nuts, missing links, etc are things someone will pick up while they're already buying other stuff.

Today I washed the car that I don't drive much. I also cancelled the SiriusXM subscription that I have since I don't drive said car much.
