Today I found out about a new local crit series taking place this year. Guess I may as well try racing.

Finally got my new wheels on the Langster. All City New Sheriff Hubs laced to WTB ChrisCross rims with black Sapim Force spokes and silver Polyax nipples. I will try and grab some pics of her when I can.

Cool! Post up some pics sooner than later.

Crashed on my commute home. A corner that I have gone around hundreds of times, was not going fast, and the front wheel completely washed out on me. Some scratches on my WI pedals, but no other noted bike injuries. Have a bloody knee and elbow, but not much more. No idea what my front wheel hit, either. Sucked! But, glad there was not worse injuries to my bike, or me.

That happened to me a while back. I broke/jammed some fingers, though.

Today I rode my commute fixed for the first time. Been doing it with a freewheel for years. It was... different.

Life can, and it will. I had a horrible childhood followed by a lot of bad choices. But, I hung in there and things started getting better. Now, I have a fantastic life. You can too! So, hang in there!

As a lifelong sufferer of depression, the one thing that I can count on to clear my head is a bike ride. Chin up, and just ride.

A ride's always good.

also, I wish there was a local criterium series around. I think there used to be in Del Mar, or something, a while back.

Today I had to bury my cat. He was run over and left on the side of the road last night. So terrible. At least he had 5+ years of enjoying life, plus making friends and shop customers smile. https://www.facebook.com/thefreewhee...type=2&theater

Today, I am sick. Just like I was yesterday. Just like I was Thursday. Tuesday before delivering, I stopped in to my favorite LBS. Owner was there, and he was getting sick he said. I work in a hospital so my tolerance to illness is pretty high. Not this time. Wednesday night I developed a tickle in my throat that turned into a cough. Went to bed not thinking much of it. Woke up Thursday in a world of hurt. I was in tears because my head was just pounding. Every muscle in my body was throbbing. My teeth hurt, my gums, my cheeks, my eyebrows, all of it. No appetite either so taking Motrin for my head was a real challenge since you should take it with food so it doesn't upset your stomach. Well, your stomach is already upset, so what do you do?
I called in sick for work today so I will be forced to make that up because we have a no call in policy on the weekends. Tomorrow I am set to work a double shift, heh, this should be interesting. I have let my dog out and been outside to take the trash out, that is it. Haven't been on my bike or in my car since Wednesday. I feel like a sloth. My chest is throbbing from the coughing, and now my nose is running. I have had a fever on and off the whole time. Sleeping helps but it hurts at the same time.

I shot the owner of the LBS a text this morning asking him about it. He put it really well into perspective. He said that it was crippling. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I will get garbage from my coworkers, but they don't know what I am protecting them from. They have no idea!!!

Today I WIN!

I did 10 miles on my blue bike, came home, grabbed the brown bike and did 5 miles in the hood. My foot/ankle were 100% pain free and NO mobility issues, even when humping up a hill out of the saddle. Tomorrow is six months from the date of explosion. I know that isn't much distance, but I can tell by the way it felt that I'll be able to ride all day and as far as I want when better weather calls me.

Also, the roads were swamped with unavoidable post winter debris and I did NOT get a flat.

And, the new grips/bar tape/stem transformed my blue bike into ergonomic heaven.

I WIN! Which is nice for a change. :o

SCK 03-26-16 04:36 PM

It's not about the miles you put in, it's that you're out there riding. Seems like a solid win to me.

Really good to hear your podalic problems have passed. You could almost say you have "defeeted" them. :p

it is always good when you don't attract the flat fairy's wrath.
