Also, today I switched my thermostat from heat to cool, and turned on the icemaker in my fridge. This is more than a month earlier than I normally do this. Global warming, baby !

F the Polar Bears and F winter.. Bring on Global Warming.

So today we hit a new record high of 92 degrees for the first day of Spring. Normal high is just 69 degrees. Warmest Winter since I moved here 30 years ago. Also, earliest last freeze, which occured in early January. Hopefully this won't translate into record Summer heat as well.

Today I purchased a bottom bracket for my Bianchi San Jose build and got tracking information for the crankset!

Just booked a nonstop roundtrip flight from NYC to Chicago on Spirit. Only $76 so I figured I go visit some family friends. Anyone fly Spirit, how ****ty is it? I travel light, just a backpack.

seau grateau 03-20-17 05:34 PM

From what I hear, Spirit is very much a get what you pay for airline.

Isn't that the airline where one of the pilots was recently found dead at his home from a heroine overdose ? Yeah, I'd fly them, no problemo.

He's dead, I should be fine.

Just bring a bottle to piss in.

Today while out riding I was passed by two motorcycles, one in the right lane and one on the shoulder. Then the guy passing on the right reached out and smacked my ass. Crazy times

johnnytheboy 03-20-17 07:59 PM

that's assault, brotha!

the sci guy 03-20-17 09:32 PM

Spirit charges for carry on - not sure about a personal item which is what your backpack would be - assuming it's a small school-like pack and not a large travel pack. I've never flown it but I know people who have....have fun!

Man, if you can get away with it, that is how it's done. I've done it a couple times and it's so nice.

Mumonkan 03-21-17 02:50 PM

after my travels last year with a backpack i will never check a bag again.

i dont even own enough clothes anymore to fill up a bag big enough to check

this weekend my boss from Oz told me about aussie rules football, holy **** i mightve finally found a sportsball interesting enough to watch!

I did 2 weeks in Thailand/Cambodia (and 3 days in Dubai) with just a backpack.
Everything is quick dry and washable. Wash and hang dry over night, boom, ready for wear again. As Mumonkan said, I'll never go back to checking bags again. If it doesn't fit in a backpack, it doesn't go.

Thanks.
The website states that one "personal" item is allowed:
'This is something like a laptop bag or purse smaller than 18"x14"x8".'

The bag I use is a 30L bag, 14x20x8 So I should be fine.

Looks like I'm racing against Alonso Tal this weekend at SDSR (he's a cat 3 now???).

Someone owes me a beer if I beat his time up GMR in the hill climb ITT. Something tells me he has some top secret fixie goon strength tho

TimothyH 03-22-17 07:58 PM

Today I'm lusting after this Sugino 46/30 crankset.

Broctoon 03-22-17 08:49 PM

Today I had oral surgery. They pulled out a dead tooth and prepared my jaw for an implant to go in its place. They also removed some bony growths (mandibular tori).

So it's no biking for a few days. I could probably handle an easy ride tomorrow, but if Mrs. Broctoon finds out, she'll throw a fit.

I had a dry socket once. It wasn't fun.

My advice is chill. Don't do anything to raise your blood pressure and potentially pop the clot out of the wound.

Carcosa 03-22-17 09:47 PM

Today I hit 500 miles for the year, fixed. Not a ton, but more than last year at this point.

johnnytheboy 03-22-17 11:43 PM

One use is gravel, for extended climbing over loose surfaces where a bigger ring and standing would spin the tire. The 30 ring allows it to be done seated.

Another obvious use is old age. There is a great thread about these cranks in the 50+ forum.
