It was. Probably will never do that ride again.

I agree. We ended up averaging 16.4 for 108.5 miles so we did some work while we were pedaling. The stopping and starting again was the worst part.

Today I went to the Redbull Soapbox Derby out by Dodger Stadium. My girlfriend and I mountain biked some of the hiking trails to get around all the traffic and crowds before we settled into a good spot. My friends built a cart and competed in the event. Here is a pic their cart without the body on it

Later I kept riding around and came across the steepest streets in the city.

The next street, Fargo Street, is a 33% grade but there wasn't a street sign to take a picture of.

They did pretty well and it was a fairly windy course. IDK about the shifters, just left them on for kicks. They didnt even use the brake levers for the brakes.

What did you do photograph it? I just stuck my phone against one of my welding lenses and it came out kinda funky. Looked great through the welding hood though.

Today I rode 49 miles gravel with 5000+ ft climbing in brutally hot weather to see totality.

I had parked next to a pretty good flowing creek and just soaked in some turbulent whitewater for about a half hour after.

Texas has a total eclipse in 2024.

yes we do. gonna be rad. the eclipse itself was pretty ok today but the eerie silver light that happened for an hour or so was the best.

Lets all keep ourselves healthy so that we live to see it.

As an aside, my daughter studies astrophysics at Georgia Tech. I'm probably getting her something like this as a graduation gift.

Nice ride TimothyH! Crushing it! johnnytheboy we could barely see the eclipse outside of work with a cereal box viewer, but the low/weird light conditions were super neat.

I slammed my knee super hard on a MTB ride on Friday evening. Was supposed to be a whole weekend with tons of riding for all. On Saturday morning it was so swollen, stiff and painful that I couldn't walk, and experienced shooting pain when I bent it or swiveled my ankle. I thought I might need to get shuttled down to the ER but luckily the symptoms got better and I was hobbling around by the evening. On Sunday morning I could even pedal a bit.

I went to the Dr.'s today just to be proactive, and he confirmed that there were no breaks or tendon damage by bending and twisting my knee a bunch. Just some bruising and swelling, which is already way down. He prescribed some light spinning for a week, after which we expect me to have a green light to resume business as usual.

Phew!!!

Today I was commuting to work during the eclipse. I never looked at it once because I was too worried that there were drivers not paying attention to where they were going so I was extra cautious.

In Wichita Falls? Will your shop have anything setup in the vendor hall?

Update: I'm an idiot who didn't properly torque the driveside crank arm during my rush to put a bike together and basically @$#%'d it. Thank God I had another crankset.

Regrettably, no. I haven't made it up there in several years.
