Today I did a 71 mile round trip dirt ride with a few guys for my birthday. Hard packed dirt/crushed limestone. 36:13 ratio on the SS. What an absolute blast.

Yesterday was CX race #4 of the local series, my 3rd. Managed to pull 8th out 24 in the men's 4/5 on the Nature Boy. Could have finished higher if I had a chance to pre ride the other half the course and not taken a OTB face plant in the volleyball court.

Yesterday I attended my first cyclocross race (Jingle Cross in Iowa City.) I didn't race it, of course, but it was a blast to watch. :)

Today I put black Relfexite conspicuity tape on my Gravel bike wheels.

Specialized Carve SL on 700x42 Continental City Ride II tires. Bike is kind of a do all fun as hell to ride monstrosity. Hydraulic disc brakes, Cinelli Pepper risers, Chris King hubs laced to Stan's Arch EX wheels.

Bought a threadless headset to put on the GT because the threaded one on there is junk and has been pissing me off. Now I can't get the old cups out. I'm ready to throw this thing in the trash.

you dont think its a steel frame/alu headset cup corrosion issue do you? use a bigger hammer.

Was going to use it with a 1" threadless fork I had in the closet. Now I'm building my Ridley back up instead. Glad I never got around to putting it on eBay.

Today I'm going to figure out what to do with a Bruce Gordon frame i have lying around.. Already have a CX/650b/fixed gear bike so probably something along the lines of a townie/touring setup. What to do! Defo want to change the bars from drops to either flat or upright.. ideas?

Today I learned that my bikes have "pinch brakes" on them.

I learned that I can make my bike lighter by removing the brakes, just as the pro track racers do.

Last night I found a bunch of cool stickers lying around so I put them on my road bike. Today I rode it and hit a bunch of PR's up one of my local climbs. Obvious conclusion: stickers make you faster.

Today I am packing up my little dog in my bag and taking him to the bike shop with me for the day. Feel bad for the little guy leaving him home alone all the time, and obviously bike shops and dogs are a perfect match. Hope he has fun!
