You need to ride to the ER maybe. :D

Today I did a mostly casual paced geared road ride with some friends for some greasy breakfast. Cold to start out but warmed up nicely. After 5 years of owning my dream car, finally now have a car that I can easily put my bike in and drive to meet people for rides like this. Was too much of a hassle before, and now it is much easier.

Did the Levi Gran Fondo today, hardest 100 miles I've ever ridden. I didn't expect it to be faster than road race pace (that I've been in), and I finished the 101 miles and 8000ft elevation in 5:45 moving time, 6:50 total time with the rest stops.

I also spent 2:45 at tempo, and 57min at threshold

All in all a great day on a bike, but I couldn't take very many pics because I was on the rivet like the whole time.

Yesterday I had the good fortune to have a lovely ride in NYC. We drove up to the Ferry at Weehawken and put our bikes on the boat and were delivered downtown on about 8 minutes. Easy as catching a subway. We walked about 30' outside of the dock building and we were on the bike path. The bike path took us to the battery park area and to the Governors Island ferry. Another short ride, we were on the island. This is an old military base that was converted into a park. They have lots to see, two historic forts, great views, museums, a police car show, oyster hatchery and a large outdoor food court. https://govisland.com/hills The actual ride was very easy as it was dead flat and we rolled at an average of 10 mph. https://ridewithgps.com/trips/18094558 Click on the photo to open up a little gallery. It was a great day to have with friends. Ride Safe,

That's a fun ride! I used to ride that path when we lived up North, except my start would be the Jersey side of the Gwb. Fun times :)

Today I grabbed my gravel bike to find the front 38 mm Schwalbe G-One Allaround completely off the rim on one side and sealant all over the place.

Remounted the tire and it blew off the rim at 40+ PSI. I'm thinking it is a broken bead and this is the second one - another did the same thing out of the box. This is a 50% failure rate for these tires. If it is a broken bead then Schwalbe has some serious quality control problems.

I"m bummed because these are amazing tires to ride, supple and just about as fast as any road tire I've ever ridden. I'd welcome recommendations for a light, fast tire for gravel and packed dirt. Maybe Panaracer Gravelking SK?

I'm really not a big fan of puzzles.

SquidPuppet? More like ShillPuppet. ;)

seau grateau 10-02-17 12:34 AM

That's not a puzzle, it's a direction clock.

Did an early morning ride, in the rain, flatted, then snapped the valve stem off in my inflator, in the rain. Made my first ever call of shame.

Unkle Rico 10-03-17 09:13 AM

Jeez.. Like it ripped away from the rubber or the valve literally broke in half?

I snapped it in half tightening the cartridge into the inflator. User error.

Yesterday, I went to spin class with the wife after work. Made the rest of the commute home a little more work, but I liked it. :)

Damn. Be proud of that track record. Mine was forever ago.

seau grateau 10-03-17 02:42 PM

Flatted on the way home late last night on my beater. I considered just ditching the bike and walking home. I guess I'm glad I didn't do that.
