For sure. It'll be interesting to see how Paselas behave to compared the Maxxis tires I've been running. I would think the Paselas aren't quite as supple and forgiving despite similar TPI.

Today I switched my FG over to winter gearing (59") and took it for a quick ride. Spiiiiiiinn tooo wiiiiiinn! :thumb:

Today I pedaled my Surly 20 miles for the second consecutive day. (Haven't been on a bike for 4.5 years.)

scoho 11-20-16 08:57 PM

Switched from 48/15 to 48/16.

That one little cog tooth made all the difference--suddenly I feel like the fastest person on earth, and wind/hills now feel like invigorating challenges rather than demoralizing impediments.

The tiny bit of spinout under ideal conditions is well worth the reward on the other side, especially with winter winds picking up along the river.

Today I drove an hour to get to a preserve place to do some gravel grinding but then realized i had brought the wrong bike shoes :crash:

Just brought down my saddle couple of cms to see how it feels :)

Today is day 3 of no heat in my apartment building.

Temp outside: 29°F
Temp inside: 57°F and has dropped each day

Called office this morning. They emailed us Saturday am about it. They don't know when it will be fixed, they said they are trying, but with the holiday coming up they don't know when it will be fixed. Wat?

Call 311 and/or the housing authority, your landlords obviously dont have a good track record for getting **** done

I did something similar three weeks ago when I had planned on a group ride with the big boys...

Ate well the night before, went to bed early, hydrated the next morning, ate lots of breakfast, got to the start early.... and my jerseys were draped over the dining room chair at home.

TenSpeedV2 11-21-16 11:54 PM

Well, it looks like they got it up and running for now. I called the township rental housing department and asked them to investigate. Slowly warming up in here, up to about 64°F now. Slept in wool socks and a buff last night. Must have looked effin hilarious.

Bingo!

Just say you were camping and no one will look at you sideways

Went out for a little FG road ride. Passed this one dude on a road bike who was looking a little bonkish, and he hopped on my wheel and drafted for a while. After about 5 miles he pulls up and says "Thanks a lot man, I really needed that." Pulling roadie bros on track bikes FTW.

Signed up for north face trail marathon in may. Guess I gotta stop being lazy now

Ugh, that's one of my pet peeves. I'm out trying to enjoy a nice ride, and some full-aero bro sits on my ass for miles. I don't mind that he's freeloading* exactly (although it is pretty ridiculous, since I'm most likely sporting a riser bar, sneakers, jeans, and a big backpack, while he's decked out down to the aero shoe covers), but I find it obnoxious to have someone I don't know and who didn't introduce himself sneak up on my rear wheel and stay there. Plus, although we're both on bicycles, we're really doing different things--he's keeping his cadence and popping his energy gels and booking his miles, and I'm just trying to ride my damn bike--and I don't appreciate being co-opted into his world.

Anyway, I shouldn't let it bother me. You sound a lot cooler than I am.

*Plus, I've never had anyone offer to switch places. I wouldn't accept, but it would show a nice bit of awareness.

Yeah I can definitely see how that would be annoying. I was in full kit with drops and clipless, and keeping a pretty spicy pace, so I didn't mind. It would bother if someone was riding my wheel who I thought might **** up and run into me, but he seemed to be handling himself pretty well.

What really gets my goat is people who pass super close without saying anything.

26.2?

Certainly not the ultra, right? <shudder>

That should be super nice running weather. I wish you well. They have some nice running plans at coolrunning.com.

I did Marine Corps in 2006. No one can ever take that away from me. Zero regret.

Realized I do not own a SS or fixed gear here in Cambodia. Have 2 in the states but not here.

Yeah I'm registered for the marathon, but I'm hoping training goes well so that I can upgrade my reg to the 50k, which is technically an ultra. Definitely wont be ready for the 50 mile in 6months though, or will I?

2017 is gonna be a wild ****in year, life is too short for dreams.

The difference between a dream and a goal is that a goal has a plan.

Happy thanksgiving everyone. Hope you all get some good eating and riding in.

I'll be doing an easy 60-90 min on the mtb today, and then 5 hr road rides on F and S, both surrounding group rides.

seau grateau 11-24-16 07:29 PM

No riding for me today but I did make an all-vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, gravy, a tofu-turkey-esque thing, and a pumpkin pie.

Muffin Man 11-25-16 10:51 PM

Killed myself on the bike yesterday, 108 miles with 9k elevation reported on the garmin at the end of the ride, but I got greedy and tried to correct elevation and lost 500ft, so now its only 8500ft elevation.

Click pic for linky to strava

Mumonkan 11-25-16 11:24 PM

never "correct" your data on strava, unless you want roughly estimated info, and less elevation

strava takes the (highly inaccurate) elevation info based on gps. the data from your garmin is always gonna be more accurate because it uses its built in barometric altimeter
