I gotta little pay raise and I didn't have to ask...WOOOOOHOOOOOO! 1 buck-a-roon more an hour which ain't a ton but since I didn't have to pry it out of them, I will take it! Just need to order some bike parts and celebrate : )

TimothyH 03-03-18 05:40 PM

Today I raced my gravel bike in my first actual bike race with actual numbers and timing and finish line and stuff like that.

49 miles and something like 6000 ft elevation. It hurt but it was fun. And it hurt.

I didn't win.

Today I rode 10 miles fixed over very hilly terrain. Topped out at 27 mph, and I'm feeling it now. Going to feel it more tomorrow :-p. So much fun, it's probably worth it.

Today I washed my bike and thought about taking off the studs. Then I looked at the weather forecast. ;)

I'm pretty sure I could hold Hincapie's wheel with a little more training.

Went out for a quick 20 mile ride before work. Weather was way too nice to stay inside all day.

seau grateau 03-08-18 05:57 PM

25 miles today, went for a run yesterday and my legs are still angry about it.

bmwjoe 03-08-18 09:47 PM

Had a tire on a Bobcat trailer blow out while it was passing me. BANG! It was somewhat behind me, so I was not hit with anything, but the concussion from the blast was impressive. The driver completed his pass and pulled over safely.

Pre-race day tune up ride, put in a 9:30s lap on Fiesta this morning (4.1 mi) without being too beat up afterwards - good sign. Even had to coast for a few seconds when some crows that were eating roadkill wouldn't move after I rounded a corner.

Today I put an offer on a house. Going to find out tomorrow if we got it, but it is close to the Silver Comet Trail, which is one of the longest bike paths in the country.

TimothyH 03-11-18 10:17 PM

^^ Nice. Where? I hope you get it.

Today I did 28 miles on the same Silver Comet Trail. 48x16 fixed gear. 18.8 MPH average which for me is smoking.

Polar says my top speed was just under 29 MPH. It is pretty nerve wracking at that speed given the cadence required.

Endorphins definitely kicked in and I had a nice runner's high after the ride. :)

Tim,

It's in Dallas, just off Dallas Acworth Highway (close to Acworth). Should be nice riding too since it is rolling farm country. Can't wait to have some garage space for bikes!

Sounds like a good ride, did you make it all the way to Alabama?

Dallas-Acworth Highway is colloquially known as "92." I ride all through there. If you look at the Stava heat map you can see most of the popular routes. It is a heavily traveled area.

Alabama? Nobody goes there on purpose. Florence trailhead to McPherson Church Rd (where we turned off to ride gravel) and back is 30 miles and a popular out and back paceline training route.

How do you see the heat map? I just downloaded the app.

We're pretty close to the boarder of Acworth and Dallas. Are you close to there too?

Thought it might be fun to say I got all the way to Alabama from home. Though I've never been there.

Use to see this one guy on my commute every morning and he'd always wave to me, and i assume other cyclists as well. Haven't see him in a while until today and he waved again. kind of got me thinking, when i had a motorcycle waving was common place and there was a sense of camaraderie among motorcyclists that i don't really see with cyclists. i dunno, just some food for thought

The heatmap is at https://labs.strava.com/heatmap/#5.4....52655/hot/all.

I live four miles from the Cobb/Paulding border in Acworth. I'll PM you my address. It is 11 miles from my house to the trail by bike. I rode there tonight. Chilly!

Once on the trail you could ride to Alabama but there isn't much past Rockmart.

I hope you get the house. It really is a great area to ride.

Went out to the track, but annoying on and off drizzle meant the session got cut short. Spent most of the rest of the day shopping for a new road frame, thinking about buying a pretty cool Fondriest I found on eBay.

TenSpeedV2 03-14-18 10:16 PM

Today I am still fiddling with my TK2. Ditched the bullhorns and went with a nice set of Ritchey EvoCurve WCS bars and SRAM S500 hoods/levers. Single brake on the left, right lever is locked into place after the manager at my shop figured out a permanent solution. All that is left is just getting the stem length and rise just right. Oh, and I need to redo the bar tape because I really suck at it.

TimothyH 03-18-18 12:59 PM

Today I rode on the MUP - keeping in mind that this is a very popular 96 mile long MUP - with three members of the East Point Track Club, all of them on track bikes pushing big 53 front rings and such.

It was all I could do to keep up with a feeble 48x16 Bianchi but I managed and even took some pulls.

One of them was a girl. We were doing 24 MPH and she would come past us fast, singing a song or something. Fun group and very skilled at riding close to each other.

The number of roadies who tried to hold our wheel and failed was comical.

It was one of the most fun times I've ever had on two wheels.

Today I'm finally setting up a wall in the house to hang all six bikes that are scattered about (I've only been planning to do this for like a year). Also new grease/bearings for the Volare's wheels, since the stuff that's in there is 20+ years old I'm sure. And laundry.

Gresp15C 03-18-18 05:39 PM

Today I cleaned the winter crud off my bike.

veganbikes 03-19-18 11:11 AM

I got hit by a State Highway truck, dude just slowly crept into my lane and bumped me with his massive side mirror. I am OK no injuries sustained but was just pissed off for the rest of the ride back (which was luckily fairly short) and got it worse when some a-hole in a Mercedes decided to turn from a non turn lane after taking her sweet f'ing time at the light (even though the turn lane was fully open with zero cars)

The dude at least asked if I was OK, no apology or anything but at least a stop and check to see if I was OK. I decided to not unleash all the rage on him because I really didn't want to go to court and deal with the badged clowns.

Yesterday I cheated on my FG for the first time this year. Coasting and shifting felt weird.
