Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. I just don't understand why these companies can't make a mount that doesn't break. Both of the mounts I've had break on me have been ones that were designed to allow the headlight to swivel on its mount, which in my opinion is a completely pointless feature that only causes problems.

Got me on the swivel thing too. Got that on my Cygolite mounts. Is there a screw to tighten it?

No screw. Mine is a Light & Motion -- it has like a protruding disc on the bottom of the light that slides into the handlebar mount. That part snapped when I was putting it on last night. At least it didn't break while I was riding like my Axiom light did before (literally hit a bump and the thing snapped and flew off). Funny enough, the most reliable headlight I've ever owned when it comes to stuff like this is one that I got for like $20 at Target. Problem with that one is it's not bright enough to light up a dark road at night.

I'm a fan of the Go-Pro style mounts. If you ride with a NiteRider Lumina series light, they make a great adapter so that everything is secured with allen key bolts. I have this setup on two of my bikes:

On the MTB I don't like to have my Garmin sticking out front like that or just usually don't bother with the Garmin at all. On that bike I simply have one of these which is the same interface as above:

In general I really like K-Edge products. Check them out if you are looking into cyclocomputer, light or Go-Pro mounting options.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into those.

My body went haywire around 11:00 PM Tuesday and by 2:00 AM I could not lift myself from the floor to the sofa and was dry heaving uncontrollably and shaking/shivering violently. I had my daughter call 911 and by 4:00 AM I was in the ER hooked to an IV. Oxygen was 90% so they kept me overnight.

A side effect of anti nausia meds is drowsiness and it was a godsend. I slept on and off for about 30 hours. My calendar is clear through the weekend.

I encourage anyone with any symptoms to get to the doctor right away and get tested.

Glad you're OK!

GoPro mounts are pretty much foolproof.

Light & Motion Urban series lights come with a GoPro mount.

My GoPro mount proved to be no match for chip'n'seal roads. It vibrated so much it snapped off. The camera itself survived just fine, leaving me with an interesting bit of video.

Mine didn't. :\

Did you guys break the mount that attaches to the bar or the GoPro adapter which attaches at the light/camera?

In my case the part that broke is the little adapt-a-gazoink that goes between the bar-clip and the camera itself. A cheap part, but a part that shouldn't break that easily.

I guess neither, technically. The part of the light itself that slides into the bar mount sheared off, and this one (Urban 650) didn't come with a GoPro mount.

I have heard stories about Texas chip seal.

Yikes! I'd be pissed.

I have lots of GoPro mounted stuff and use it for gravel all the time. Maybe I've just been lucky?

Rode my bike last night despite:

having to put my chain back on and lube it
find tools to put in my seat bag
swap seat bag between bikes
pumping up tires
it being wet and icy
it being 25 degrees and windy
Front light nearly dead
rear light dying shortly after leaving

As rides go, it kinda sucked, but also really needed to happen.

When you start to wonder, "What the heck made me thing this was a good idea?"

What's that one guy's quote around here? "There have been times I didn't feel like riding, but I've never regretted going on a ride." :thumb:

TMonk 02-28-18 02:22 PM

I've definitely regretted going on a ride before lol

TMonk 02-28-18 02:23 PM

Not this morning though, road my fixie road bike (42/15) for 90 minutes before work. Tried to keep my HR in my tempo zone for most of it. A tough workout yesterday made my legs a bit sore but I felt good and it was nice to feel some cool morning air.

seau grateau 02-28-18 04:56 PM

Did 24 miles today. Boring ride, but just had to get the blood flowing again. Haven't been doing much riding this month and the effects are noticeable to say the least.

...and to top it off, I walked out to my garage this morning to find the bike has flat front tire.

Sorry to be a party pooper lol. I do appreciate the sentiment of the quote, however :thumb:

I lived on a road that was chip'n'sealed for a while when I was younger. A fresh chip'n'seal job is the smelliest, messiest, most annoying thing ever... especially for cars.
