Cable guides and such are already shaved off

Are you going to have new cable guides brazed on? You could even do it yourself after a little practice on a dumpster bike. The cantilever stud on my fork is busted, so I can braze on a new one or replace the fork. It is a very good looking fork...

And I'm planning to get this fork functional again for a Frankenstein build

Yes, I'll be doing it myself. That I would be comfortable doing. I might even attempt an internal routing... I don't have any experience at this though, so idk if that would be a good idea? That fork is very cool indeed. Simple and unique design! I dig it!

I thought, but no greenbacks. I was also a block or two away when the guy totally smoked his tires realizing he was going the wrong way into the turn refuge and should have made the legal U-turn at the next light. Maybe he forgot his girlfriend/wife. Dan Garlits couldn't have done it better.

I don't recall that model doing that well in the braking test on Motor Week...

I've been without a plus bike for a year and a half now. Not for much longer though. Just need crankset, chain, rotors and brake caliper bolts. Still got some planning to do for the steerer cut. Need to visualize the length I want for drop bar usage, just in case.

Took advantage of the empty downtown Monday night streets and felt a little Holiday vibe

Today I:
Started assembling an Aventon Matero frame set that I painted last weekend, but gave up. Too big for my short britches. Was wishfully thinking I could compensate with components. No big loss, I’ll flip it at this weekends bike swap and gain some free parts out of it. Not really what I wanted to build anyway.

Then I lost an eBay auction on 165 s300 crank arms to replace my 170’s... o well, maybe I’ll find some om noms at said swap.

Got home and was digging through my hoard of stickers and found deez hidden in the pocket of my sticker binder

Yesterday I cleaned my road bike. Today I got it dirty again.

Butthash 11-07-18 02:35 PM

Today I picked up some protein powder and have a bike ride to my psychiatrisr at 2:30.

I'm now back in training mode for next year. Did my baseline 20 min power test this morning and I was only off from my best all year by 10 watts. Volume has been lower but I've been doing more monster (6-7 hr) rides so maybe that's helped!

If I can keep some consistency, I should be flyin' high by the time road and track starts up next year. Stoked!!!

You're a monster!

TMonk 11-07-18 07:30 PM

Ha! I wish.

Again I'll be in your neck of the woods Monday - Sunday of next week. Looking to put in 17 (or more) hours of pedaling time in between Tuesday and El Tour on Saturday, mix of MTB and road. Maybe I'll hit you up for a beer one of the evenings if works out!

Today I did a small 12.5 miler across town. was planning on going to Arcata(next town over), but once I got on the freeway on the north end if town; I was disturbed by how thin the bike lane thing is, as I haven't biked to the next town over in years, so I turned around and did the waterfront trail to the south enc of town https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...bf0362d3b7.jpg

Nice! My daily commute is right around that distance. Those damn sections of thin bike lanes are terrifying. I have to go a past the quickest route to my shop a bit because the frontage road has NO bike lane for about 300 yards. I would probly take the risk and haul ass past it.... but it’s a blind sweeping turn. No thanks. I’ve seen tweakers almost get hit multiple times by cages coming off the i-10 way too fast. Yikes

Inspired by hairnet’s craftsmanship:https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...defefc1d9.jpeg
I thought hub shiners were really cool, so I had a go at it for myself! His definitely look better
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...24dfdd2f1.jpeg

Then I decided to utilize the rear brake mount and fabricated a little tab out of aluminum to mount an LED rear light. Still need to polish it up

Here is the back side.

I decided the other day to give risers another chance. I’ve never really been a fan, but they are growing on me. Today I took them off, stripped the anodize, and polished them. I also engraved ‘PUNY GOD’ on either side of the stem for more Loki humor

Yours looks very nice. Mine are cut out of an old belt and too thick. I might try again using leather from a worn out welding jacket. Did you use a soldering iron or something for the text?

Head through Myrtletown and hit up Old Arcata Road! The 101 is more direct but it's very unpleasant. On the flip side Old Arcata can be a scenic, enjoyable ride.

that sounds like a win for sure! Maybe some splatter / slag embedded ;)

I have a computer controlled laser engraver, so that’s how I burned the text. I’m sure you could use a soldering iron, or a dremel tool with the right ‘bit’. I’ve done both

For sure! Thanks man! was considering it. Where you currently live though?
I just get worried because I know people take the back roads to go quick or sometimes drive drunk without getting caughr.
Old Arcata may be a possibility today or sometime soon.
