Fresh Garbage
Yeah, I bought one of the Concept 2's a year or two before I got back into bikes. I never used it after getting back on the bike, it's just been sitting in the corner for the last 3-4 years. However, my upper body strength is a joke right now so I thought I'd give it a try again.
I did 15 minutes last week and 30 this week. Will probably go for 45 next week and hang with that for awhile. I'm pretty awful at it and only average 120w-130w, which seems pretty low. It's a completely different workout than the bike, thats for sure.

Today (yesterday evening) I inadvertently nose-manualed my Steamroller while riding mtb trails and felt like a total badass.

After talking to the woman at the store today after I exchanged them for a size up, she made it seem like they are working on expanding and took down a few ideas from a couple of the guys in the store myself included. I would love to see them make the move into cycling gear for guys because honestly, everything I have ever bought from them has been amazingly comfortable and has held up extremely well.

Yup. Broad daylight, too. I usually cover it with a bag to avoid drawing too much attention, but the bag I usually keep in the nose fell out on the way to work. Oh well. Money loss sucks, but 4 years of molding that thing to my personal keister profile is the real victim.

I have an original Ti Flight and have thought about making the seatpost a QR for this reason since I lock mine in the city too...I often use a backpack so I'll just toss it in with my helmet.
Just pisses me off when I see that.
In other news, I picked up a new Giro Foray helmet since Nahsbar had a decent deal going on. Seems like a good helmet for $40.
I've been using a 15 year old Specialized Banshee even though it's most likely worthless in a crash...but Seattle and their mandatory helmet laws (and they do enforce it/fines).

that definitely sucks. having had stuff stolen off my bike in the past i know it can be a serious bummer. do you usually park your bike in the same spot? seems like whoever jacked it had to bring the necessary tools to cut the chain and unscrew the seat post so they may have noticed it earlier. or it could also just have been an opportunistic full-time bike thief.
It was only my 3rd shift there so I doubt it was someone gunning for me, specifically. It was in Williamsburg which A) is dense AF with bikes and B) has tons of streets, like the one where this happened, that are half busy restaurants, half construction sites so they seem safe at first look but really don't have a ton of foot traffic. Prime hunting grounds for a jerk with a van and some clippers.
That's a good plan. If I can save enough of my pennies to get a new Brooks I'm gonna do that.

what about using a bolt on seatpost clamp and super gluing a ball bearing in it? and also on the saddle clamp itself?

Yep. Washington State doesn't officially have one but most of the major counties have one. Seattle started in 2003
It seems to work. I rarely ever see anyone without one on the major cycling routes.
The violation is a civil infraction (ticket) and the base fine is $30. There are additional court costs of $51 added to the base fine amount, so the total is $81. All law enforcement officers have the authority to enforce this code -- police officers, sheriff's deputies, state patrol troopers, etc.

if you ever need to remove the seatpost or adjust the saddle, a little acetone will break down the glue and allow you to remove the bearing.

Theres that Amazon camo tape that isn't terrible and comes in multiple camo options, my buddy put some on his bike and it feels like any other 10 dollar a roll tape.

I rode my road bike for the first time in several weeks -- the Mrs. was doing a 1/2 marathon 35miles away so perfect distance for a quick ride.. I think i've come to the conclusion that I don't really like gears. I like things to be super simple and a FG is just that, simple.

Lately I've been riding my fixed gear bike more for this exact reason. Not giving up on gears yet though but I understand exactly where you are coming from.
