I still dig my Mataro, still haven't had any problems with it, still race it in velodromes pretty frequently, and still don't give a **** what other people say about it.
|
they are all the same as the other street track frames. I have one from city grounds, which I eventually dumped everything stock on it and went from a 26lb crap machine to a pretty respectable 17lb track bike, and even with a SS coaster and brakes and hoods, its still under 19lbs.
They do look a little try hard, and people think its a high end bike but i always tell them is more expensive than it looks. |
Yep, I built mine up from a frameset, with pretty basic parts and Ellipses, and it's right around 17lbs on the nose. Get a ton of compliments on it, even though it was relatively cheap.

I've used my Mataro for messenger work and now it's my dedicated track bike - never had a problem, stiff and lightweight. It can take an absolute beating and I've found that the newer seatpost clamp doesn't slip at all. Still my favourite frame that I've ever ridden.
|
got mine for super cheap when citygrounds was doing their cyber monday sale. not a bad frame, fits pretty well.
the only drawbacks are the terrible wedge-style seatpost clamp and the top tube bruises your thighs if you ride brakeless because of the angle of the tubing. |
Yeah the wedge post clamp is weird, use a bit of friction paste and it'll work much better without having to over-torque it.

hope you guys can see my photo? i'm on day one of this bike... it's squirrelly as hell and feels like it wants to jacknife... it damn near did during a skid... can i fix the jack knifing tendency with a change in fork rake? i'm new at this style of bike although i've been riding fixed gear a lot... this is more tech than i'm used to... any advice will be humbly welcomed
