SC or SC1 hub OK?

Does anyone know of any problems with an SC or SC1 hub from Sturmey Archer? They went through a few hub designs in the 50s that they had to scrap.

I am finally getting around to a build and wanted to use a 40 hole CB hub instead of getting a new rim.

It's a pigeon. I thought I would strip the fenders and brakes and lace in a CB hub, then go with some chrome steel upside down northroads and longer, chrome steel stem. It should look as clean as an FG.
