Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? How significant a change is two cog teeth in the back?

I recently moved and my SSCX is geared a little too high for the hills near me. It's currently 38/16 (64.9 gear inches) and I was thinking of moving up to an 18T freewheel just to make things a little easier but wasn't sure if that would be too spinny (57.7 gear inches). Obviously I know terrain plays an important role but I'd like to know how drastic a change that would be before I pull the trigger.

It is a big jump and you won't be going anywhere quick on flat ground.
