Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It's not a question of objectivity, but first hand knowledge, which Scrod has and you lack. There are plenty of geared road bikes that have stiff aluminum frames that still manage to provide acceptable ride quality on the street. Usually they have carbon forks, and in the case of my MONOC also have carbon seat and chain stays to soften up the ride in the rear. I have a Leader 721TR with the full carbon fork and its ride on the street is perfectly acceptable.

Outstanding work, Sherlock.

We also sell EAI/Toyo, Cinelli, All-City, Surly, Pake, Soma, Fyxation, Dolan, Dodici and Collossi frames (none of which you've ridden). Can I help you?
