Front brake: V or Disc?
Having trouble deciding on what kind of front brake to get. Would like to hear opinions of pros and cons of a front brake on my SS. I ride mainly shorter, couple mile rides over somewhat hilly terrain, and some city riding. Oh, and my bike has mounting options for both, but not caliper.

Get a mechanical cable operated disc brake like an Avid BB7 with a 160mm rotor. It's not all that difficult to install or adjust. It will work with any road or cross lever. V brakes suck and are harder to adjust IMO.

+1 for the avid bb7 disc brake. Much easier to install and adjust than typical v-brakes. Just make sure your front hub is set up for mounting the rotors. Avid uses 6 bolt discs.
I'm guessing, btw, that this is a ss mtb. Many of them run posts for cantis/vees and disc mounts.

Sorry guys yes it's the critical. There's a hole on the fork for a v brake and mounts at the ends for what I assume would be disc brakes. If I'm mistaken let me know. At the very least I would assume that any bike sold as a fixie would take a front v brake, that's kind of the style.

I don't know what bikes you have been looking at but most SSFG bikes are set up with sidepull calipers. The hole you mentioned is for a caliper brake.

I should really google before I post. I thought v brakes were the standard side pull calipers. Mine takes the basic style calipers. Sorry for all the confusion.

Nothing, the way you are describing it now. I just had a hard time picturing why a company would make a bike that only comes with a rear caliper and a fork that wasn't able to take a front caliper. Although it is still odd to come with just a rear brake. Just get a front sidepull caliper brake.
